At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on January 9, 1962, Mayor Cherry presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: 6ommissioners Fields, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). Mayor Cherry offered motion that the reading of the Minutes for December 26, 1961 and January 2, 1962 be waived and that the Minutes of said meetings prepared by the City Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fields, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Fields offered motion that the Board of Commissioners approve the sale by the City of Paducah to James A. Hodge, Murray, Kentucky, of the North nest corner of 1,ot No. 25 in Block No. B of the Rushing Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery, and that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery grave. Adoptec on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fields, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Fields offered motion that the services of nary Elizabeth Carneal, a temporaru clerk in the Assessor's Office, be terminated as of January 15, 1962. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fields, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and % Mavor Cherry (5). Commissioner Fields offered motion that the Board of Commissioners approve the sale by the City of Paducah to Claude Aker of the south east corner of Lot No. 25 in Block No. 8 of the Rushing Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery, and that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery grave. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fields, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Fields offered the following motion: Upon recommendation of Ray Kayse, Director of Public Works, I move that Robert Faug_hn be employed as temporary laborer in the Street Department of the City of Paducah, effective January 16, 1962, at a salary of $1.32L per hour. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fields, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor sherry (5). jCommissioner Gholson offered motion that the Certificate of Insurance issued by The Fidelity and Casualty Company of New York to Ed Dooms & Son, Inc. and The City of Paducah, Kentucky for a period of one (1) year from January 1, 1962, be received, approved and filed. Robert Flood Commissioner Hornsby offered the following motion: Upon recommendation of Gene Floodwall Dept under Civil Ruoff, Floodwall Superintendent, I move that Robert Flood, operator in the Floodwall Depart- Service ment of the City of Paducah be placed under civil service, effective February 1, 1962. Holmes Commissioner Karnes offered motion as follows: Upon recommendation of Gene Ruoff, Floodwall placejj under civil Floodwall Superintendent, I move that Joe B. Holmes, operator in the Sewage Treatment service Sewage Treatment Plant of the City of Paducah, be placed under civil service, effective February 1, 1962. plant Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fields, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). Approve Cemetery, Commissioner Karnes offered motion as follows: I move that the Board of Commissioners lot sale to John T. & L approve the sale to John T. S, Peggy Dotson of the west one-half of Lot No. 4 in Block No. Peggy Dotson Oak Grove 1 of the Mausoleum Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery for the sum of y;120.00. I further move Mausoleum Add that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery lot. Mayor Cherry offered motion as follows: I move that the Board of Commissioners approve the transfer from The Society Install 30 Stteet lig Area "F" I further move that the City Clerk be authorized to make the proper transfer the Cemetery Register. Mayor Cherry offered motion that the City Manager be, and he is hereby authorized to have installed approximately thirty (30) street lights in the area annexed to the City by ordinance adopted on August 15, 1961, which area is commonly known as 'Area F". Russell, President of Russell Police & I the Peoples First National Bank and Trust Company, expressing appreciation to the Police Fire Dept. and Fire Departments and enclosing a check in the amount of $100.00 to be placed in the Petition St Lights Flor Avenue & Sowell & Ashbrook Petition Ashcraft & alley Accept bid King-Wooda police car Accept bid King -Woods Refuse Tru Police and FiremenIs Retirement Fund, be received and filed. Mayor Cherry offered motion that the petition of Paducah Association for Community Improvement requesting installation of street lights near the intersection of Sowell and Ashbrook Streets, and on Flora Avenue just beyond Martin Street at the L curve be received and filed, and further moved that the City Manager refer same to the Police Department for investigation and recommendation. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fields, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). Mayor Cherry offered motion that the petition of Paducah Association for Community Improvement requesting Ashcraft Avenue from Powell Street to Yeiser Street be filled and opened for public use, and that an alley be built and gravelled from Sowell Street to Powell Street between Ashcraft Avenue and Hayes Avenue, be received and referred to the City Manager for investigation. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fields, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Fields offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF KING-WOODALL MOTORS, INC. FOR THE SALE TO THE CITY OF ONE (1) NEW 1962 FORD AUTOMOBILE FOR USE IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fields, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Gholson offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF KING yt'OODALL MOTORS, INC. FOR THE SALE TO THE CITY OF ONE (1) NEW 1962 MODEL C-750 FORD TRUCK AND 16 CUBIC YARD GARWOOD PACKER BODY FOR USE BY THE REFUSE DIVISION OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND PRESCRIBING THE CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE", be adopted. FOR THE SALE TO THE CITY OF ONE (1) NEW 1962 PANEL TRUCK FOR USE IPI THE POLICE DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND PRESCRIBING THE CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE", be adopted.
