Corp Counsel 295 At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on July 11, 1961, Mayor Cherry pre- sided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Davis, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (4), Commissioner Fendley being absent (1). Mayor Cherry offered motion that the reading of the Minutes for June 27, 1961 be waived and that the Minutes of said meeting prepared by the City Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (4). Commissioner Davis offered motion that the resignation of John B. Blackburn as Assistant Corporation Counsel in charge of Police Court work, effective July 15, 1961, be received, accepted and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (4). Grant of Concess- Commissioner Davis offered the following motion: I move that a copy of the Grant ion J.E. & J.C., ✓ Staley - Parks of Concession to be executed by the City of Paducah, Kentucky to J. E. Staley and J. C. Commissioner Davis offered motion that the report of the Police Department for the month of June, 1961, be received and filed. Commissioner Davis offered the following motion: Upon recommendation of Hubert Grimmer, Park Superintendent, I move that the employment of Lewis Parker, regular basket room attendant at Noble Park Pool, be terminated as of July 10, 1961. Such employment is temporary and no civil service rights or other rights under any law or ordinance shall be covered by this employment. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (4). Commissioner Davis offered the following motion: I move that Neal T. Dossett be employed as a temporary laborer in the Street Division of the Public Works Department, effective July 17, 1961, at a salary of $1.321 per hour. Such employment is temporary and no civil service rights or other rights under any law or ordinance shall be covered by this employment. Commissioner Gholson offered motion as follows: I move that the resignation of Resignation Asst Corp Joseph J. Employ Donald Commissioner Gholson offered the following motion: Upon recommendation of L Broughton Noble Park the White Park Board, I move that Donald L. Broughton be employed as regular basket i room attendant, at Noble Park Pool, effective July 11, 1961, at a salary of X140.00 per month; said appointment being temporary and not under Civil Service, and may be terminated at any time. Robert Ferrell (% J. C. J Robert Ferrell Penny Co., Bristol, Virginia), in the sum of $27.6$, for damages to his motor vehicle on January 7, 1961 at 13th & Flournoy Streets, be allowed; and further move that the Treasurer pay said claim after securing a full and complete release. Sell grave Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the Board of Commissioners approve Rushing Addition Mrs. Claudia f the sale by the City of Paducah to Mrs. Claudia Wichard of the South West corner of Wichard Lot No. 21 in Block No. $ of the Rushing Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery, and that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery grave. John Tilford Commissioner Hook offered motion as follows: Upon recommendation of the Park Parks - increase salary Board, I move that the salary of John Tilford caretaker of Barkley Park, be increased from $$0.00 per month to $100.00 per month, retroactive to July 1, 1961. Commissioner Hook offered the following motion: I move that Lawrence Albert Harris be employed as a temporary laborer in the Street Division of the Public Works Department, effective July 17, 1961, at a salary of $1.321 per hour. Such employment is temporary and no civil service rights or other rights under any law or ordinance shall be covered by this employment. Commissioner Hook offered motion that the Certificate of Insurance issued by Mew Amsterdam Casualty Company to Charles F. Farrell and William W. Farrell d/b/a Reliable Advertising Company, covering advertising benches placed on the sidewalks in the City of Paducah, for a period of one (1) year from July 6, 1961, be received, approved and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Gholson Hook and Mayor Cherry (4). Commissioner Hook offered motion that the executed copy of the Contract betwee the City of Paducah and DX Sunray Oil Company, for the sale to the City of Petroleum products, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (4). Mayor Cherry offered the following motion: Morris McBride is the owner of property located on 31st Street between Monroe and Madison Streets, and said owner desires that an extension of the existing water main be made so as to provide water service to the property above referred to. It appears from the endorsement by the Board of Commissioners of Water Works that the applicant has complied with all rules and regulations of said Paducah Water Works as approved by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah. I therefore move that the application of Morris McBride be accepted and approved and that the Board 298 Proceedings of Board of Commissioners City of Paducah July 11, 1961 of Commissioners of the Paducah Water Works be authorized to execute the agreement for the laying of said extension and that the Board of Commissioners of Paducah Water Works be authorized to install a six inch main on 31st Street, beginning at the existing main on the South side of Madison Street and extending in a Southerly direction to the North side of Monroe Street, a distance of approximately 346 feet. I further move that the adoption of this resolution and the granting of the request contained in said application be considered as an agreement on the part of the City of Paducah to pay the fire hydrant and water main rental, as provided in the fran- chise, on the pipe line referred to in petition and in this motion. Said rental to begin when said water main has been installed and water provided for on the street above referred to. Service posi-! ✓ tion in Refuse Mayor Cherry offered the following motion: I move that the petition of Ruble to St. Division Tucker and other Civil Service Employees in the Street Division of the Public Works Department, requesting that the civil service position as operator in the Refuse 'ivision of the Public Works Department be transferred to the Street Division of the Public Works Department, be received and filed. I further move that the Corporation Counsel be, and he is hereby, directed to draw all necessary ordinances to effect such transfer. Chism (1328 Lang- Chism Temp Lab St.Div. staff) be employed as a temporary laborer in the Street Division of the Public Works Department, effective July 17, 1961, at a salary of $1.321 per hour. Such employment is temporary and no civil service rights or other rights under any law or ordinance shall be covered by this employment.
