Marques: Recreation BoarE File contract Taylor -Wilson police cars At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on June 27, 1961, Mayor Cherry presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Cherry (4), Commissioner Hook being absent (1) Mayor Cherry offered motion that the reading of the Minutes for June 13 and June 20 1961 be waived and that the Minutes of said meeting prepared by the City Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Cherry (4). Mayor Cherry made the following appointment: Joe Harry Metzger having resigned as a member of the Board of Adjustment, Planning and Zoning, I hereby appoint Guthrie Gilbert to serve during said unexpired term, so that said Board as now constituted shall be composed of the following members: G. L. Chilton whose term expires August 16, 1962 Guthrie Gilbert whose term expires August 16, 1962 Louis Kolb whose term expires August 16, 1964 William F. Hannan whose term expires August 16, 1964 C. D. Harris (appointed by the McCracken Fiscal Court) Mayor Cherry offered the following motion: It appearing that the term of office of Ed C. Cain, William M. Carson and Carl W. Marquess as members of the Recreation Advisory Board will expire on July 1, 1961, I hereby, subject to the approval of the Board of Commissioners, reappoint the said Ed C. Cain, William M. Carson and Carl W. Marquess for further terms of three (3) years each. Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the Board of Commissioners approve the action of Robert C. Cherry, Mayor, reappointing Ed. C. Cain, William M. Carson and Carl W. Marquess as members of the Recreation Advisory Board, making said board as now constituted as follows: James Hermon Bruce whose term expires August 23, 1961 Burton C. Robbins whose term expires June 1, 1962 Don Hartline whose term expires June 1, 1962 Joe Mitchell whose term expires June 1, 1963 Ed C. Cain whose term expires July 1, 1964 William M. Carson whose term expires July 1, 1964 Carl W. Marquess whose term expires July 1, 1964. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Che: ,(4). Commissioner Davis offered motion that the executed copy of the Contract between City of Paducah and Taylor -Wilson Chevrolet -Cadillac, Inc, for the sale to the City of five (5) 1961 Biscayne four -door sedan automobiles be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Cherry (4). Cemetery transfe' Commissioner Davis offered motion that the Hoard of Commissioners approve the tra to Samuel Claude✓ Etheridge & wife11 £er from Mrs. Mary Alice Seegers to Samuel Claude Etheridge and wife, Mary Alice Etheridge, of the north east quarter of Lot No. 37 in Block No. 1 in the "New Addition" (Mausoleum Addition) to Oak Grove Cemetery, and that the City Clerk be directed to make the proper transfer on the Cemetery Register. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Cherry (4). No 292 Proceedings of Board of Commissioners City of Paducah June 27, 1961 Liability Inzi Commissioner Davis offered motion that the Certificate of Insurance issued by The Chastaine & Habacker V1 Fidelity and Casualty Company of New York to J. C. Habacker d/b/a Chastaine & Habacker for a period of one year from July 10, 1961, be received, approved and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Cherry (4). Sell grave in Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the Board of Commissioners approve the Rushing Add, , Irene Whitfield sale by the City of Paducah to Irene Whitfield of the north west corner of Lot No. 20 in block No. 8 of the Rushing Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery, and that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery grave. Bond of Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the Bond of Leslie A. Feast in the amount Leslie A Fea of $1000.00 dated June 19, 1961, be received, approved and filed. File contract Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the executed copy of the Contract between Cardinal Vi Carryor Cc the City of Paducah and Cardinal Carryor Company, Inc., for the sale to the City of Hoist Unit One (1) Model 303-C Type LFW Dempster Dumpster Uoist Unit, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Cherry (4). Employ 19m. Commissioner Gholson offered the following motion: Upon recommendation of Hubert Schaeffer Park Dept Grimmer, Park Superintendent, I move that William Schaeffer be employed as extra main- tenance man in the Park Department of the City, retroactive to June 22, 1961, at a salary of $1.28 per hour. Such employment is temporary and no civil service rights or other rights under any law or ordinance shall be covered by this employment. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Cherry (4). File letter II Mayor Cherry offered motion that the letter from Richard B. Friend, General Manager WKYB of Radio Station 10K'YB commending the Paducah City Commission for the action taken by it to launch steps one and two of the long range improvement of Paducah's sewer system, be received and filed. Settlement SII Mayor Cherry offered motion that the reports of the Paducah water Works be receivei Sewer & refuse accounts for and filed, and that the following checks be turned over to the City Treasurer to be May deposited in the proper accounts: ' Refuse collections for May, 1961 $9,926.00 Sewer Service Charges for May, 1961 9,911.50 Bad Refuse accounts collected during May, 1961 13.60 Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Cheri (5). No. 293 Proceedings of Board o£ Commissioners City of Paducah June 27, 1961 Proposals Mayor Cherry offered motion that the proposals submitted by The Kentucky Company Fiscal Agents Sewer bonds and Stein Bbos & Boyce to act as Fiscal Agents of the City of Paducah for the issue and sale of sewer revenue bonds, be received and filed. Adopted oncall of the Roll, Yeas Commissioners Dairis, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Cherry (4). Proposal Burns Mayor Cherry offered motion that the "Proposal and Contract for Engineering Service & McDonnell c Eng. services submitted by Burns and McDonnell Engineering Company be received and filed. Request bids Commissioner Gholson offered motion that a Resolution entitled: "A RESOLUTION Fire Hose t" AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR 1000 FEET OF 11 -INCH FIRE HOSE AND 1000 FEET OF 2J -INCH FIRE HOSE FOR USE BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF PADUCAIj KENTUCKY, PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SAID PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Cherry (4). Accept bid West i Commissioner Davis offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE Ky Paving Cc resurface Sts. AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH WEST KENTUCKY ASPHALT PAVING COMPANY FOR THE RESURFACING OF VARIOUS STREETS IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, INCLUDING THE RAISING AND RESETTING OF MANHOLES, CATCH BASINS AND MONUMENTS, AND I PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SAID CONTRACT", be introduced and remain on file for at least one week for public inspection in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage. Accept bid DX Commissioner Fendley offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE Sunray on oil etc. AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH DX SUNRAY OIL COMPANY FOR THE PURCHASE OF ALL MOTOR OIL, DIESEL FUEL, CHASSIS LUBRICANT, GEAR LUBE OIL, HYDRAULIC OIL, KEROSENE AND ANTI -FREEZE FOR USE BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, FOR THE PERIOD OF TIME FROM JULY 1, 1961 TO DECEMBER 31, 1961, AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SAID PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE", be adopted. Accept bid Commissioner Gholson offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE Aetna 011 Co Gasoline AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH AETNA OIL COMPANY FOR THE PURCHASE OF ALL REGULAR AND ETHYL GASOLINE, FOR USE BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, FOR THE PERIOD OF TIME FROM JULY 1, 1961 TO DECEMBER 31, 1961, AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SAID PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE", be adopted. Increase salar>>es Mayor Cherry offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Park employees l/ SECTION 1 -.OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED: }AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE COMPENSATION OF THE REGULAR EMPLOYEES OF THE WHITE AND COLORED PARK BOARDS DF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY*, WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ON MAY 25, 1957, AND AMENDED ON SEPTF14BFJ 22, 1959", be adopted.
