Mayor Cherry offered motion t hat the reading of the Minutes for April 11, 1961 be waived and that the Minutes of said meeting prepared by the City Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). / Commissioner Hook offered motion that the petition of E. J. McClure and his a wife, Maud B. McClure, for permission to make one 3/4 -inch connection to the existing privately owmed water pipe line of the Husbands Road Water Company for the purpose of furnishing water to one residence only to be constructed upon property owned by petitioners fronting approximately 300 feet on the east side of Husbands Road in McCracken County, Kentucky, be received and filed and that the request petitioned for therein be granted subject to the terms and conditions in said petition. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5) ✓/ Commissioner Davis offered the following motion: Upon recommendation of the Corporation Counsel and Assistant Corporation Counsel, I move that they, or either of them, be authorized to compromise the McCracken Circuit Court action of Ruble Simmons against the City of Paducah for the sum of "p2,750.00; and further move that the City Treasurer be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to pay said sum to Ruble P! . Simmons and her attorney, Roy/Vance after securing a full and complete release approved by either the Corporation Counsel or Assistant Corporation Counsel. Commissioner Davis offered motion that Mrs. Helen Armstrong be employed ig temporarily in the Finance Department of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, retroactively effective as of April 1$, 1961, at a salary of X190.00 per month; such appointment being temporary with no sick leave or any other benefits provided for by ordinance, and such employment is to be only as long as needed by the City Treasurer and such services may be terminated at any time upon his request. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Davis offered motion that the Certificate of Insurance issued by The Fidelity and Casualty Company of New York to lf. E. Reed and the City of Paducah, Kentucky, for a period of one year from I -lay 6, 1961, be received, approved and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5)/ Commissioner Davis offered motion that the executed cmpy of the Contract between the City of Paducah and Ray H. Mullen Motor Company, Inc „ for the sale to the City of Two (2) 1961 Buicks (LeSabre) be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the letter from Ed Turner, Fire recommending various promotions in the Fire Department, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry ( ). Homer Holland, Holland -Sewer Repot Administrative Assistant, Paducah -McCracken County Health Department, expressing interest in the Master Plan Report on sewers, and offering the help of the Health Depart gient in any way, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commission ers Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). Refuse & Sewer / Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the reports of the Paducah Water works settlements ✓/ March, 1961 be received and filed, and that the folloi-ring checks be turned over to the City Treasure to be deposited in the proper accounts: Refuse collections for I -larch, 196110,773.50 Sewer Service Charges for I•larch, 1961 10,735.00 Bad Refuse accounts collected during I•larch, 1961 15.60 Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). Clint Cunningham ✓ Commissioner Fendley offered motion that Clint Cunningham, a Lieutenant in the promoted to Captain - Fire Dept fire department, be promoted to the rank of Captain in said department, effective May 1, 1961. Johnsbon, a Private in the Fire promoted to Eng- ineer - Fire Dept. Department, be promoted to the rank of Engineer in said department, effective May 1, 1961. Commissioner Hook offered motion that the liability insurance policy issued by The Pennsylvania Insurance Company to the City of Paducah as respects work done by Gilberts Olumbing and Heating, Inc., for a period of one year from May 1, 1961, be received, approved and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Hook offered motion that James Mason, an Engineer in the Fire Depart• ment, be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in said department, effective May 1, 1961. Commissioner Hook offered motion that the executed copy of the Contract between t: City of Paducah and King -Woodall Motor Company, Inc. for the sale to the City of One (1) new 1961 Falcon, be received and filed. McKendree, as operator in the Sewage Treatment Plant, effective April 21, 1961, be received, accepted and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). ✓/ Commissioner Gholson offered motion that a Resolution entitled: "A RESOLUTIO REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF FIVE (5) NEI'I 1961 FOUR DOOR SEDAN AUTOMOBILES FOR USE IH THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, AND PRESCRIBING THE CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). Mayor Cherry offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "Ail ORDINANCE LOSING A PORTION OF 29TH STREET AND A PORTION OF AN ALLEY IN BLOCK 2 OF WHITTEMORE'S :-LEST END ADDITION, AND AUTHORIZING THE CORPORATION COUNSEL TO INSTITUTE ACTION FOR SUCH CLOSING IN McCRACKEN CIRCUIT COURT", be adopted.
