HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Book 24, Page 270, April 11, 1961270 Proceedings Liability City Plum & Heating of Commissioners City of Paducah April 11, 1961 At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chambe: of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on April 11, 1961, Mayor Cherry presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioner Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). Mayor Cherry offered motion that the reading of the Minutes for March 28th and April 5th, 1961 be waived and that the Minutes of said meeting prepared by the City Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Davis offered motion that the liability insurance issued by United States Fidelity and Guaranty Company to City of Paducah, Kentucky, for City Plumbing and Heating, for a period of one year from April 4, 1961, be received, approved and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). Liability Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the Certificate of Insurance issued by The Fidelity and Casualty Company of New York to Ray Black & William R. Black d/b/a Ray Black & Son and The City of Paducah, Kentucky, for a period of one year from April 15, 1961, be received, approved and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry 05). Settle claim Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the claim of W. F. Taylor (1319 High W.F.Taylor Street, Paducah, Kentucky), against the City in the sum of ;)40.15, for damages to his motor vehicle, caused by a Street Department truck of the City, on February 7, 1961, be allowed; and that the Treasurer pay said claim after securing a full and complete release. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). Settle actij ✓ Commissioner Hook offered motion that the Corporation Counsel be authorized to Crouch v Redfern & City of settle the McCracken Circuit Court action of James C. Crouch v. Robert Redfern and Paducah the City of Paducah for the sum of :y100.00, and further move that the City Treasurer be, and he is hereby, directed to pay said sum of $100.00 to James C. Crouch and his attorney, Robert B. Reed, upon securing a full and complete release approved by the Corporation Counsel. Polk Brooks as a member resignation v Park Board of the Board of Park Commissioners, dated April 7, 1961, be received, accepted and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). Chas McClain Mayor Cherry offered motion that the resignation of Charles McClain as a member resignation Park Broad of the Board of Park Commissioners, dated April 10, 1961, be received, accepted and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Req. bids Dempster Dempster Hoi Unit Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Hook offered motion that a Resolution entitled: "A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR ONE DEMPSTER DU74PSTER HOIST UNIT FOR USE BY THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS, AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). No 271 Proceedings of Board of Commissioners Cify of Paducah April 11, 1961 _ Employ Harold Dean t,/ Commissioner Fendley offered motion that Harold Dean Lawrence be employed as a Lawrence -fireman 2 fireman in the fire department of the City of Paducah at the beginning salary of ',:`280.00 per month, effective April 17, 1961, provided that by such time he furnishes, at his expense, the City Manager with a satisfactory medical report as to his physical condition, including an electricardigram. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). Employ Raymond A.Commissioner Gholson offered motion that Raymond A. Ruley be employed as a firem; Ruley2 fireman in the fire department of the City of Paducah at the beginning salary of X280.00 per month, effective April 24, 1961, provided that by such.time he furnishes, at his expens, the City Manager with a satisfactory medical report as to his physical condition, including an electrocardigram. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). Employ Pulliam Commissioner Hook offered motion that Pulliam Gerald Stewart, Jr, be employed as Gerald Stewart, it, fireman a fireman in the fire department of the City of Paducah at the beginning salary of 57280.00 per month, effective May 1, 1961, provided that by such time he furnishes, at expense, the City Manager with a satisfactory medical report as to his physical Ihis condition, including an electrocardigram. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). Weight of Trucks I Commissioner Davis offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE & trailers e� (amending) AMENDING SECTION 2 OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED: ?AN ORDINANCE TO REGULATE i1EIGHTS OF 140TOR TRUCKS, SEMI -TRAILERS AND TRAILERS IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY; PEPJ41TTED UNDER SECTION 189.280 OF THE KENTUCKY REVISED STATUTES}, WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY ON JANUARY 20, 1953, AND AMENDED ON JUNE 14, 1955", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, I Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). Agreement J.W. Commissioner Fendley offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE Johnston and Perry Wallace Marina AUTHORIZItdG THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF Facilities river front PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, WITH J. Id. JOHNSTON AND PERRY WALLACE FOR THE OPERATION OF MARINA FACILITIES ON THE RIVER FRONT, AND SETTING FORTH THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SUCH AGREEMENT", be adopted.
