Proceedings of Board of Commissioners City of Paducah October 18, 1960
At a Called tieeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber
of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.N. on October 1$, 1960, i]ayor Cherry
presided and upon call of the Zoll the following answered to their names: Commissioner:
Davis, Fendley, Gholson, iiool; and "ayor Cherry (5).
?Mayor Cherry offered motion that the executed copies of the I:otice of Called
-To eting to be held at 7:30 P.M. on October 18, 1960, be received and filed. Adooted on
call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5)
'5000.00 to Commissioner Davis offered motion that the stun of •,,5,000.00 be transferred from
Electric Plan
Board the General Fund to the Electric Plant Board of the City of Paducah for use within the
purview of Section 96.730 of Kentucky Revised Statutes. Adopted on call of the Roll,
Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and i-.ayor Cherry (5).
Thomas R. I Commissioner Davis offered motion that Thomas R. Griffin be employed as a chainma

Eng. Dept. in the Engineering Department of the City at a salary of'w230.00 per month, effective
chainman
October 19, 1960; such employment being temporary and said employee is not to have any
rights under any civil service statute or ordinance. Adopted on call of the Roll,

Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the Bond executed by V. C. Blayd/b/a
Slay Plumbing and Heating in the amount of ;`1000.00, dated October 14, 1960, be received
approved and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley,
Gholson, IIook and Payer Cherry (5).
' Commissioner Fendley',offcred motion that the letter from Rulie Elliott, Chief of
Police, dated October 17, 1960, to the i•:ayor and ;bard of Commissioners, requesting; a
leave of absence as an employee of the Police Department of the City of Paducah for a
period of five (5) days without pay or other benefits, and requesting that such leave
be effective October 20, 1960, be received, accepted and filed. Adopted on call of the
Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the following bids for the sale to the
City of Paducah of two new 1961 panel trucks, be received and filed:

Commissioner Hook offered motion that Ed Ross, Charles Vandevelde, and Henry
Robertson be appointed to serve as members of the Board of Equalization of the City of
Paducah, Kentucky for the year 1960; that the members of said Board, after being first
duly sworn to faithfully discharge the duties of their office, be directed to meet at
the City Hall in Paducah, Kentucky on the 5th day of December, 1960; to elect from
themselves a chairman and a clerk; to notify the "ity Auditor that they are ready to
receive the assessment books and to then proceed with the equalization of assessments of
all real and personal property within the city subject to taxation in accordance with
the provisions of law; and the members of said 'board are to receive for their services
the amount of compensation.fixed by ordinance. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas,
Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Cholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Hook offered motion that the executed copy of the Contract between
the City of Paducah and Duncan ParkinE :later Division of ;iotor Products Corporation,
dated September 26, 1960, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas,
Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5).
Mayor.:Cherry offered motion that the resirnation of Coy Stacey as a member
of the Board of Park Commissioners, dated October 17, 1960, be received, accepted and
filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yoas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson,
and Mayor Cherry (5).
Mayor Cherry offered motion that the Certificate of Insurance issued by The Fideli
and Casualty Company of iier York, to Ray Black Zc Son and the City of Paducah, for a
period of one year from April 15, 1960, be received, approved and filed. :adopted on
call of the Roll., Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hoot: and i•:ayor Cherry (5).
