Mc Kendree Temp operator I Sewage dis- posal TVA Power tract tel Burns & M Sell grave in Rushing Add Joe Hart At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on September 13, 1960, I�ayor Cherry presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Davis, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Uherry (4), Commissioner Fendley being absent. Mayor Cherry offered motion that the reading of the Minutes for August 23, 30 and September %, 1960 be waived, and that the Minutes of said meetings as prepared by the City Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (4). Commissioner Davis offered motion that Billy G. McKendree, a temporary laborer in the Sewage Disposal Department, be employed as temporary operator in said department at a monthly salary of ;1270.00, effective September 16, 1960, such employment not being under civil service. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (4). / Commissioner Davis offered motion that the telegram to Mr. Robert C. Cherry, Mayor 11 dated September 12, 1960, from Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company of Kansas City, Missouri, recommending the proposed Tennessee Valley Authority power contract be accepted by the City Commission and the Electric Plant Board of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (4). Commissioner Davis offered motion t hat the Board of Commissioners approve the sale by the City of Paducah to Joe Hart of the north east corner of Lot No. 16 in Block No. 8 o£ the Rushing Addition to Oak. Grove Cemetery, and that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery grave. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (4). James Humphrey Commissioner Gholson offered motion that James Humphreys, an operator in the Chief OperatN%-- Sewage Disp. Sewage Disposal Department, be promoted to the position of Chief Operator in said department at a monthly salary of �D35.00, effective September 16, 1960, said promotion being under civil service. - Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (4). Housing Comm Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the executed copy of Amendment No. 1 to Amendment No. to Cooperation Cooperation Agreement- dated April 28, 1959 between the City of Paducah, Kentucky and the agreement City of Paducah Municipal Housing Commission,, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (4). Employ John Commissioner Hook offered motion that John Ellis be employed as a temporary Ellis Temp laborer Pub. .i laborer in the Street Division of the Public Vorks Department of the City of Paducah, works Dept. at a salary of X1.23; per hour, effective September 19th, 1960. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (4). Liability Ins. Cmmmissioner Hook offered motion that the liability insurance policy issued by Presley Plb !- Heating Heating Cc United States Fidelity and Guaranty Company to the City of Paducah covering work done by Presley Plumbing Z. heating Company for a period of one year from September 23, 1960, be received, approved and filed. Commissioner Gholson offered motion that a Resolution entitled: "A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF ONE (1) HEd VACUU LEAF AND LITTER COLLECTOR FOR USE Iid THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS, AND PRESCRIBING TH1 CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (4). Commissioner Hook offered motion that a Resolution entitled: "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ROBERT C. CHERRY, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, TO EXECUTE, ON BEHALF OF SAID CITY, A POWER CONTRACT BETWEEN TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY, THE ELECTRIC PLANT BOARD OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND SAID CITY", BE ADOPTED. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (4). Commissioner Davis offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "Ald ORDINANCE DECLARING THE HOLDING OF A CARNIVAL A PUBLIC NUISANCE, PROHIBITING ANY PERSON, FIRM, ASSOCIATION OR CORPORATION FROM ENGAGING IN SUCH BUSINESS IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR ANY VIOLATION HEREOF", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (4). Commissioner Hook offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE REPEALING SECTION 55 OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED: 'AN ORDINANCE FIXING AND REGULATING THE LICENSE TAXES, AND 14ANNER AND FORM OF GRANTING AND ISSUING SAME ON THE VARIOUS LINES OF BUSINESS, TRADES, OCCUPATIONS, PROFESSIONS, VOCATIONS AND CALLINGS IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR NON-PAYMENT THEREOF, AND FOR VIOLATION THEREOF, AND MAKING IT UNLAWFUL TO ENGAGE Iid ANY SUCH LINES OF BUSINESS, TRADES, OCCUPATIONS, PROFESSIOIiS, VOCATIONS AND CALLINGS NITHOUT FIRST PAYING THE LICENSE TAX AND PROCURING LICENSES AS PROVIDED HEREIN; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IPI CONFLICT THERWITH, AND PROVIDING A SEPARABILITY CLAUSE', WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF CODVESSIOVERS ON DECEMBER 23, 194711, be adopted. <Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (4). ✓ Mayor Cherry offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "Ali ORDINANCE A•73NDING SUB -SECTION 2 OF SECTION $-D OF THE 'APPOINTIVE EI4PLOYEES CIVIL SERVICE ORDINANCE', 'dHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF COl-U-TISSIONERS ON DECEMBER 2, 1947, AND AMENIDED Oil SEPTEMBER 22, 1959", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (1F). / Mayor Cherry offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "Aid ORDINANCE ACCEPTINC THE BID OF DUNCAN PARKING METER DIVISION OF MOTOR PRODUCTS CORPORATION FOR THE SALE TO THE CITY OF FIFTY (50) PARKING METER HEADS, PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SW PURCHASE AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PURCHASE SAME", be adopted.
