HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Book 24, Page 193, July 29, 1960No 193 Proceedings of Board of Commissioners City of Peduceh y?9� i a60 Judgment ' Verlon Cumbee At a Called Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 4:30 o'clock P.M. on July 29, 1960, Mayor Cherry presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered.to their. Names: Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). Meeting was called for the purpose of hearing charges preferred by Rulie Elliott, Chief of Police, against Verlon Cumbee, a member of the police department. After hearing all of the evidence, Mayor Cherry offered the following motion: I move that the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, having heard the evidence upon charges preferred against Verlon Cumbee, a member of the police department of said city, by Rulie Elliott, Chief of Police of said city, and being sufficiently advised adjudges that said Verlon Cumbee is not guilty of the charge of drinking alcoholic beverages while on duty, and is not guilty of the charge of being intoxicated off duty; and adjudges that said Verlon Cumbee is guilty of conduct as would render him an unfit or improper person for employment in the police department of the City of Paducah within thg purview of Rule 11 of Section 9 of the ordinance governing the conduct of members of the police department of said city. It is therefore the judgment of the Board of Commissioners of the City of ' Paducah, Kentucky, that the defendant, Verlon Cumbee be, and he is hereby, dismissed from employment as a member of the Police Department of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, effective immediately. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). On motion the meeting adjourned. ADOPTED August 9 1960 ity Uleric APPROVED yor
