HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Book 24, Page 166, June 1, 1960166 Proceedings of bard of Commissioners CRY of Paducah June 1, 1960 At a Called Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on June 1, 1960, Mayor Cherry presided and upon call of the Roll the follovring answered to their names: Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). Mayor Cherry offered motion that the executed copies of the Notice of Called Meeting to be held at 7:30 P.M. on June 1, 1960, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5) Letter Lions iI Commissioner Davis offered motion that the letter from the Paducah Lions Club Club -city hal relative to a new city hall site, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). Liability Insi Commissioner Davis offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive, approve G.C.Hombles and file liability insurance issued by The Travelers Insurance Company covering work done by Gladman C. Humbles for a period ending December 22, 1960. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). Bond-A.F. / Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the Bond of A. F. Darnell in the amount Darnell of ?1,000 and dated June 1, 1960, be received, approved and filed. Adopted on call of he Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). Bond Emulsifi Commissioner Fendley offered motionthat the Performance Bond in the amount of Asphalt Co. )2,500.00 executed by Emulsified Asphalt Company, be received and filed. Adopted on cal of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). Employ Billy Commissioner Gholson offered the following motion: I move that Billy G. McKendree G. McKendree Sewage Dis- i be employed as a temporary laborer in the Sewage Disposal Department effective June 6th, 'posal plant at the rate of X1.25{ per hour. Approp Recreation Advisory B creating Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive, approve and file liability insurance policy issued by United States fire Insurance Company to City of Paducah covering work done by Gilbert's Plumbing and Heating, Inc. for a period of one year fi7om May 1, 1960. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Hook offered motion that theBoard of Commissioners approve the sale by the City of Paducah to Leslie Cunningham of the north west corner of Lot No. 15 in Block No. 8 of the Rushing Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery, and that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery grave. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). Mayor Cherry offered motion that the letter from Miss Virginia C. Jones, Librarian Carnegie Public Library, dated May 24, 1960, expressing appreciation for the special appropriation to the library, be received and filed. Apportionment Mayor Cherry offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "All, ORDINANCE FIRING ordinance for 19 0 THE APPORTIOIThEIdT OF THE PUBLIC FUNDS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, FOR THE, YE -A,4 196 AND APPROPRIATING THE PUBLIC REVENUE AND 1NCO1dE OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH FOR SUCH PURPOSES' be introduced and remain on file for at least one (1) week for public inspection in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage. City Manager Mayor Cherry offered the following motion: I move that the City 11anager be, negotiate plans Southside Fire and he is hereby, authorized and directed to negotiate with Johnston �. Seayp Architects, Station and new City Hall for the preparation of plans for the construction of a new Southside fire station in Kolb Park, and to negotiate with Lee Potter Smith & Associates for the preparation of plans for the construction of a new city hall.
