Mayor Cherry offered motion that the reading of the Minutes for Tday 10, 1960 be waived and that the Minutes of said meeting as prepared by the City Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Fendley offered the following motion: I move that the petition signet by G. L. Peeler and others, requesting that a street light be installed by the Third Street Baptist Chapel, located at 102$ South 3rd Street, be received and filed. Since it appears from an investigation made by the police department that this light is needed, I further move that the City Tanager be directed to instruct the Kentucl Utilities Company to install a light on the pole north of and on the same side of the street with the Chapel. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Diayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the petition of J. L. Vaughn and his wife. Elizabeth Vaughn, for permission to make one 3/4 inch connection to the existing 4 inch water main owned by the Paducah Water 'dorks located on Oaks Road, for the purpose of furnishing water to one residence only upon a lot fronting 64 feet on the east side of Oaks Road in McCracken County, Kentucky, and outside the city limits of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be received and filed and that the request in said petition be grante, in accordance with the terms and conditions in said petition. Commissioner Davis offered motion that the executed copy of the contract between the City of Paducah and Farrington Motors, Incorporated, be received and filed. Commissioner Davis offered motion that the executed copy of the Contract between the City of Paducah and Emulsified Asphalt Company, dated Nlay 14, 1960, be received and filed. Commissioner Davis offered motion that the letter of Dr. Ralph ',i, Osborne, Super- intendent of Paducah Public Schools, giving notice of cancellation of the leasr to the city for the Dunbar School property, be received and filed. W Proceedings of Board of Commissioners No 161 City of Paducah_ Nay 24, 1960 Liability Ins Commissioner Davis offered motiom that the Certificate of Insurance issued by Tilford Plb Co North British and Mercantile Insurance Company Limited to City of Paducah covering work done by Lewis Tilford d/b/a Tilford Plumbing Company for a period of one year from April 3, 1960, be received, approved and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). Letter Miley & Commissioner Davis offered motion that the letter of Miley S: Lackey to the .'.ayor Lackey -sewers Bellemeade and Commissioners, dated May 23, 1960, relative to server construction in Bellemeade Subdivision, be received and filed. Bond-CountryCommissioner Fendley offered motion that the Bond executed by Country Club Terrac Club Terrace sewers Inc, as Principal and Employers Fire Insurance Company, Inc, as Surety, in favor of McCracken County Fiscal Court and the City of Paducah, concerning a certain portion of th Pines Road right-of-way through which a sewer system is being built to join Country Club Terrace Subdivision and the City, be received, approved and filed. Commissioner Fendley offered the following motion: I move that the charges preferred by Raleigh L. Brockman, City Manager of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, against Verlon Cumbee, a member of the police department of said city, be received and filed, and I further move that a hearing of said charges be held on Nay 27;: 1960 at the hour of 5:00 o'clock P.N. CST in the Commission Chamber at the City Hall in Paducah, Kentucky and that the City Clerk immediately notify the said Verlon Cumbee of such charges against him and the date, time and place of hearing by having a true copy of said charges served upon him, together with a notice of the date, time and place of said hearing. Lindsey Liability Ir Gilberts' P7 & Heat Co Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the Certificate of Insurance issued by The Fidelity and Casualty Company of New York to Mrs. J. C. Staley & J. E. Staley d/b/a Park Concessions, be received, approved and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Ghllson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Gholson offered the following motion: I move that the Board of Commissioners approve the sale by the City of Paducah to Brian and Ada Lackey of Lot No. 20 in Block No. 3 in the Mausoleum Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery for the sum of ;)200.00 said lot being 8 x 12 feet and located on Weil Avenue between Rieke Avenue and Johnston Avenue. I further move that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery lot. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, ey, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Gholson offered motion as follows: I move that the claim of Margar, Sims (216 Chenoweth Lane, Apartment 1#2, Louisville 7, Kentucky) in the sum of 025.00 against the city for damage to her motor vehicle by a city refuse truck in the rear of Black Oaks Apartments on or about February 19, 1960, be allowed, and further move that the City Treasurer be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to pay said sum after securing a full and complete release. Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the Contract and Agreement dated March 30th, 1960 between Country Club Terrace of Paducah, Inc, and others to the City of Paducah respecting sewer construction, which has been recorded in Deed Book 411, page 637, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners .Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Hook offered motion that Elvis Clapp be employed as a temporary laborer in the Park Department (white) at a salary of $150.00 per month, retroactively effective as of May 1, 1960, such employment not being under civil service. Adopted o call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5 Commissioner Hook offered motion that the Sewer Line Easement from McCracken County, Kentucky to the City of Paducah, dated March 11, 1960, on certain property in the Pines Road, which has been recorded in Deed Book 411, page 635, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry.(5). Commissioner Hook offered motion that the claim of.'Charles E. Lindsey (R. F. D. No. 2, West Paducah, Kentucky) in the sum of ;'65.18 for damages to his motor vehicle on or about March 12, 1960, by an alleged defective street condition at 3rd and Norton Streets, be allowed; and I further move that the City Treasurer be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to pay said amount to the said Charles E. Tractor -Parks ✓ Rezone property 8th & Husbands Fairhurst ng Mayor Cherry offered motion that Frank Holing be employed as a park policeman (white) at a salary of $180.00 per month, retroactively effective as of May 1, 1960. This employment is ¢emporary and the employee shall acquire no rights under any Civil Service Statute or Ordinance. Mayor Cherry offered motion that the Board of Commissioners approve the sale by the City of Paducah to Dorothy Barbour of the south rast corner of Lot 14 in Block No. 8 of the Rushing Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery, and that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery lot. Mayor Cherry offered motion that this Board receive and file the letter dated I+iay 12, 1960 addressed to the Donorable Robert Cherry, Mayor of Paducah, and received by Mayor Cherry on May 21, 1960, from residents of the Chicago Heights Area regarding acquisition of their property by the Paducah Junior College, together with a copy of the letter written by them to The Honorable Bert C. Combs, Governor of Kentucky. Commissioner Hook offered motion that a Resolution entitled: "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR FURNISHING THE CITY OF PADUCAH ?PITH ITS REQUIREMENTS OF REGULAR AND ETHYL GASOLINE, MOTOR OIL, DIESEL FUEL, CHASSIS LUBRICANT, GEAR LUBE OIL, HYDRAULIC OIL, KEROSENE AND ANTIFREEZE TO BE USED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH FROM JULY 1, 1960 TO DECEMBER 31, 196011, be adopted. Commissioner Davis offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "All ORDINA"ICE -"ACCEPTING THE BID OF FARMERS MOTOR AND EQUIPMENT, INC. FOR THE SALE TO THE CITY OF ONE (: NEW MASSEY-FERGUSON MODEL 202 INDUSTRIAL TYPE TRACTBR FOR USE IN THE PARK DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, AND PRESCRIBING THE CONDITIONS UPON :dHICH SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE", be introduced and remain on file for at least one (1) week for public inspection in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage.
