Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Havis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Davis offered motion that the bid from Pitney -Bowes, Inc. for the sale to the City of one (1) Model 4250 Mailing Machine, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (, � I Commissioner Davis offered motion that the letter from George F. Backer, 215 Cardinal Lane, expressing his appreciati6n to the City for securing the services of a private contractor i.e. Finis Gilbert, to aid the City in completing the sewer project in the Minerva and Sunset Court Additions, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Davis offered motion that the letter from Bethel Baptist Church expressing appreciation for the street light in front of their church, be received and filed. L / Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the following letters expressing appre- cihtion for removal of the parking meters from Monroe Street and Washington Street, be received and filed. H. R. Harper Albritton to the Mayor and Board of Commissioners, dated April 5, 1960, relative to an entrance to the building at 32nd & Broadway occupied by Albritton's Pharmacy, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Book and Mayor Cherry (5). j Commissioner Cholson offered motion that the following bids for the sale to the City of one (1) new 1960 automobile for use by the Mayor and City Manager, be received and filed: Farrington Motors, Inc. Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the letter from George Drake relative to the construction of sewers in Minerva Place and Sunset Court Addition, be received and filed. Paxton, which copy was sent to the i•iayor and Commissioners, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). Commissioner Hook offered the following motion: John C. Ellis is the owner of property located on 40th Street between Sunset Avenue and the present city limits, which is presently vacant, and said owner desires that an extension of the existing water main be made so as to provide water mrvice to the property above referred to. It appears from the endorsement by the Board of Plater Commissioners that the applicant has complied with all rules and regulations of said Paducah Plater '.,forks as approved by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah. I therefore move that th application of John C. Ellis be accepted and approved and that the Board of Commissioner of the Paducah Water 'dorks be authorized to execute the agreement- for the laying of said extension and that the Board of Commissioners of Paducah Plater Works be authorized to lay a six inch water main along 40th Street, beginning at existing main on Sunset Avenue and extend in a southerly direction to the present city limits, a distance of approxi- mately 168 feet. I further move that the adoption of this resolution and the granting of this request will not obligate the City of Paducah to pay water main rental on the above mentioned main until such time as it is necessary to extend this main and install a fire hydrant for fire protection. Commissioner Hook offered motion that the claim of Clayton Tucker, Jr. (26th Jones Streets) against the City in the sum of ;189.00 for damages to his motor vehicle by a city gravel truck on Hendren Road, on or about April 8, 1960 be allowed; and that the City Treasurer be, and he is hereby, authorized to pay said amount after securing a full and complete release. Commissioner Hook offered motion that the letter from the Retail Merchants Association regarding the proposal for a new city hall, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry Mayor Cherry offered motion that the letter from Louis Ross, District Idanager, '9estern Kentucky Gas Company thanking dillard Ryan and complimenting the fire departmen be received and filed. Cooper expressing appreciation for the speedy completion of the sewers in the Sunset Court and ;inerva Place Additions, be received and filed. Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the petition of ':lade 7Jall and others living in the Chicago Heights area, relative to acquisition of property in such area by Paducah Junior College, be received and filed. Commissioner Hoole offered the following motion: I move that the memorandum from the police department recommending the installation of street lights on South 4th Street, be received and filed. I further move that the City Iranager authorize the Kentucky Utilities Company to install the folloiri.ng lights. KU pole SP -C 5-40, which is the third pole south of Husbands Street KU Pole IIo. 535, which is about two poles south of the one listed above.
