Proceedings of. Board of Commissioners City of Paducah I•iarch 7, 1959
At a Qalled Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber
of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 11:15 A.N. on I•larch 7, 1959, Mayor Jacobs
presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners
Fairhurst, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (4), Commissioner Fendley being absent (1)

Mayor Jacobs offered motion that the executed copits of the Notice of Called
meeting to be held at 11:15 A.i•;. on March 7, 1959, be received and filed. Adopted on
call of the Roll, Yeas, Coldmissioners Fairhurst, Gholson, Hoot and Mayor Jacobs (4).
/ Commissioner Hook offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "All ORDINANCE
AMENDING SECTION 2 OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED: 'AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND PROVIDING
FOR THE PURCHASE AND ACQUISITION Or THE ELECTRIC UTILITY SYSTEM O Ti1ED BY THE KENTUCKY
UTILITIES-CONIPANY IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, UNDER AILD PURSUANT TO ALL APPLICABLE
PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 1$ OF THE ACTS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY Or KEIITUCKY, ENACTED AT ITS'
1942 REGULAR SESSION, BEING SECTIONS 96.550 TO 96.900 OF THE KENTUCKY REVISED STATUTES
Or 1942, AND KIIO:T.I AS THE T. V. A. ACT; DECLARINIG THE DESIRE AND INTENTION OF THE CITY
OF PADUCAH TO ACCEPT. THE PROVISIONS OF SAID ACT AS FAR AS THE SAME MAY BE APPLICABLE TO
PROCEEDINGS INITIATED BY THE CITY Or PADUCAH TO ACQUIRE SAID ELECTRIC SYSTEM BY
PURCHASE, AND TO ACCEPT AND AGREE TO ALL PROVISIONS THEREOF RELATING TO THE OPERATION
AND MAINTENANCE OF AN ELECTRIC SYSTEM; AND PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF A BOARD OF
PUBLIC UTILITIES TO OPERATE, MANAGE AND CONTROL SAID ELECTRIC UTILITY SYSTEI•i AND TO
FUNCTION FOR ALL PURPOSES SET FORTH IN SAID ACT; AND FDCING TIM QUALIFICATIONS OF THE
I•IEMBERS OF SAID BOARD, THEIR TERMS Or OFFICE, COhPENISATION, POWERS AND DUTIES', WHICH
WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF C01,51IISSIONIERS ON JANUARY 30TH, 1945", be adopted.
Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Gholson, Hook and Mayor
Jacobs (4).
Mayor Jacobs made the following appointments: It appearing that there are two
vacancies of members of the Electric Plant Board of City of Paducah, Kentucky, -
I now therefore appoint Ernest Mitchell as a member of said board for a term
expiring February 6, 1962, and further appoint Leon T. Searles as a member of said boars( for
a term expiring February 6, 1963.
I also appoint Lloyd C. Emery, City Manager of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, a
member of said board as provided by lair for a term expiring at the end of his employmen
as such City Manager.
Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the Board of Commissioners approve the
action of George G. Jacobs, I•Iayor, appointing Ernest Mitchell as a member of the Electr
Plant Board of City of Paducah, Kentucky, for a term expiring February 6, 1962, and
appointing Leon T. Searles as a member of said board for a term expiring February 6,
1963, and appointing Lloyd C. Emery, City Iianager as a member of said board for a term
expiring at the end of his employment as City Manager. Adopted on call of the Roll,
Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (4).
On motion the meeting adjourned.
