J Fireman case L Ne 133 Proceedings of Board of Commissioners City of Paducah March 21, 1960 At a Called Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 5:30 P.M. on I -larch 21, 1960, Mayor Cherry presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). The meeting was called for the purpose of hearing charges preferred against Robert E. Jones a member of the fire department. Mayor Cherry offered the following motion: I move that Mae Mathis, McCracken Circuit Court Reporter, be designated as official reporter in the proceeding before this Board on the hearing of Statement of Charges of Ed Turner, Chief of the Fire Department, City of Paducah, as Complainant, against Robert E. Jones, a member of such department, as defendant. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson,Hook and Mayor Cherry (5). After hearing all of the evidence, Commissioner Davis offered the following motion: I move that the Board of Commissioners adopt the following and attached findings of fact and judgment upon charges preferred by Ed Turner, Chief of the Fire Department of the City of Paducah, against Robert E. Jones: The Mayor and Board of Commissioners having heard the evidence upon charges preferred against the defendant, Robert E. Jones, a member of the fire department of the City of Paducah by Ed Turner, Chief of such Fire department, and being sufficiently advised adjudges that said defendant has been guilty of violating Rule No. 11 of an ordinance adopting the rules :governing the conduct of the members of the fire department. adopted on June 16, 1937, and amended on April 8, 1952 and on February 14, 1956, which rule reads as follows: (11) Any immoral habits, lascivious or improper conduct not herein enumerated which would render him an unfit or im- proper person for employment in the fire department, or which would in any way tend to bring discredit or criticism to the fire department, the city government or any of its employees. It is therefore the judgment of the Board of Commissioners that the defendant, Robert E. Jones, be, and he is hereby, dismissed as a member of the fire department of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, effective immediately. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (4). Commissioner Fendley "Passed". On motion the meeting adjourned. ADOPTED March 22 1960 APPROVED
