Mayor Jacobs offered motion that executed copies of Notice of Called Meeting to be held at 7:30 P.M. on November 5, 1958, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5)1 Water connection Commissioner Hook offered motion that the petition of Ruth Omega Tunis, for Oaks Road / Ruth Omega •' permission to make one 3/4 -inch connection to the 4 -inch water main owned by the Tunis Paducah %later Works located on Oaks Road, for the purpose of furnishing water to one residence only upon a lot fronting 60 feet on the west side of Oaks Road in McCracken County, Kentucky, and outside the corporate limits of the City i of Paducah, Kentucky, be received and filed and that the request in said petition be I granted in accordance with the terms and conditions in said petition. Swidler services of Joseph C. Swidler, an Attorney at Law of Nashville, Tennessee, as Special Counsel on behalf of the City to investigate and advise this Board as to the rights of the City under the present franchise of electric facilities and operations held by Kentucky Utilities Company; the terms and conditions of any future franchise to be offered for sale by the City; the rights and privileges of the City as to the acquisition of the properties of Kentucky Utilities Company; and to render advice as to the employment of qualified engineers by the City to develop any necessary statistical information. Burnley, Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the resignation of Charles W. Burnley resignation ' " Zoning Comm. as a member of the Paducah Planning and Zoning Commission, dated October 13, 1958, be received, filed and accepted. Employ Gayle Lee, Commissioner Gholson offered motion that Gayle Lee Pearson be employed as a Pearson -fireman fireman in the Fire Department of the City of Paducah at the beginning salary of $260.0 per month, effective November 14th, 1958, provided that by such time he furnishes the City Manager, at his own expense, a satisfactory medical report as to his physical condition, including an electrocardigram. Police report �' Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the report of the police department for Oct. 1958 the month of October, 1958, be received and filed. Tax Exonerations Commissioner Gholson offered motion that exonerations prepared and delivered by 20142 -20192 ,% the City Treasurer, being /20142, through #20192, inclusive, be received and filed, i I and that the amounts of same totaling x2,2$7.77 be exonerated on the tax bills shown and i designated by said exonerations. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5). 63 -hour work week Commissioner Hook offered the Following motion: Insofar as not in violation of firemen law, and except in cases of extraordinary emergency, I move that the hours on duty of each individual member of the Fire Department of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, effective November 16, 1958, be arranged by the Chief of said department to average sixty-three (63) hours per week. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Kayor Jacobs (5). °treet Lightbeside Commissioner Hook offered the following motion: I move that the report of the Anderson Court Police Department concerning the need for a street light in the alley beside Anderson Court, between 7th, 8th, Boyd and Campbell Streets, be received and filed; I further move that the City Manager be authorized to request the Kentucky Utilities Company to make such installation. Amend Section/ Commissioner Fairhurst offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANC 7 Civil Service' ordinance AMENDING SECTION 7 OF THE +APPOINTIVE EMPLOYEES' CIVIL SERVICE ORDINANCE', WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF COP24ISSIONERS ON DECEMBER 2, 1947, AND AMENDED ON OCTOBER 26, 195711, be adopted. Accept bid ✓ Commissioner Fendley offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE Jennings on Backhoe -Loader ACCEPTING THE BID OF JENNINGS TRACTOR AND EQUIPMENT FOR THE SALE TO THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY OF ONE (1) NVol CASE #310B TRACTOR WITH UTILITY BACKHOE AND LOADER COMBINATIONI FOR USE III THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO CONTRACT TO PURCHASE SAME", be adopted.
