October -14, 1958 At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on October 14, 1958, Mayor Pro Tem Hook presided in the absence of Mayor Jacobs and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Pro Tem Hook (4), Mayor Jacobs being absent (1). Mayor Pro Tem Hook offered motion t hat the reading of the Minutes for September 23rd and September 26th, 195E be waived and that the Minutes of said meeting as prepared by the City Clerk be approved as written. Rater connec Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the petition of Fred Sills and his wifel, tion -Fred I Sills 011ie Sills, for permission to make one (3/4") connection to the privately owned water Rutter St. pipe line located on Rutter Street and owned by the Schneidman Road Water Line Number 2, for the purpose of furnishing water to one residence only upon a lot fronting 135 feet on the south side of Rutter Street in McCracken County, Kentucky, and outside the Corporate limits of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be received and filed and that the request petitioned for therein be granted subject to the terms and conditions in said petition. Darnell, for permission to make one (3/4") connection to the 2 inch Yarbro Lane i privately owned water pipe line located on Yarbro Lane and owned by the Yarbro Lane ,Nater Line Company, for the purphse of furnishing water to one residence only upon a lot fronting 143 feet on the 'fest side of Yarbro Lane in McCracken County, Kentucky, and outside the Corporate Limits of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be received and filed and that the request petitioned for therein be granted subject to the terms and condition; in said petition. Transfer Commissioner Fairhurst offered motion t hat the Board of Commissioners approve Cemetery lot Avery Cecil the transfer from Lillie Coleman Alexander (formerly Lillie Coleman) and her husband, Harris & wife J.:1. Alexander, to Avery Cecil Harris and wife, Gladys Potter Harris, of Lot No. 66 in Section 2 in Oak Grove Cemetery. He further moved that the City Clerk be directed to make the proper transfer on the Cemetery Register. (4). i Settle Claim / Commissioner Fairhurst offered motion that the claim of Robert Tyler, against Robert Tyler, the City of Paducah, in the .^,um of ;;313.00, for injuries received by him on or about July 22, 1.95E by reason of an alleged defective manhole cover near 23rd and Jefferson Streets, be allowed and further moved that the City Treasurer issue a check to him for I such amount after securing a full and complete release. Invest ;3100,000 !I' Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the letter of October 11, 1958 from General Fund U.S,Bonds Fred B. Wilkens, City Treasurer to the Mayor and Board of Commissioners, recommending an investment of ;;100,000.00 in United States bonds maturing on May 15, 1959 from the General Fund, be received and filed; and further move that he be, and he is hereby, ' authorized to purchase from the general Fund of the City of Paducah Y100,000.00 in United I States Treasury bonds to mature May 15, 1959. Woodrow Morrisj" Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the resignation of Woodrow Morris resignation ✓ dated October 2, 1958, resigning his position as Maintenance Helper in the Maintenance Department of the City of Paducah, be received, filed and accepted, effective October 15, 1958. Employ John Commissioner Fendley offered the following motion: I move that John Albert, Albert Delinq. r, tax collector a local practicing attorney, be employed to enforce the collection of delinquent real bstate taxes and public improvement assessments at a monthly salary of ;200.00, effective November 1, 1958. He shall enforce collection of Seal estate taxes and public improvement assessments upon lands covered by tax statements furnished him by the City Treasurer, and his services shall be supervised by the Corporation Counsel. Sell lot Oak % Commissioner Gholson offered motion as follows: I move that the Board of Grove to Mr. ' & Mrs. Willard Commissioners approve the sale by the City of Paducah to Mr. and Mrs, Willard Smith of Smith the North one-half of Lot No. 23 in Block No. 5 of the Mausoleum Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery (201 x 911) located on Holt Avenue between Brooks Avenue and Stewart Street for the sum of $120.00. I further move that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery lot. Amend Section Commissioner Fairhurst offered motion that anordinance entitled: "All 7 Civil Service Ordinance ORDINANCE A:'NDING SECTION 7 OF T:.E 'APPOINTIVE EMPLOYEES, CIVIL SERVICE ORDINANCE}, Licence Inspr placed under WHICH NAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ON DECEMBER 2, 1947 AND AMENDED ON civil service OCTOBER 26, 1957", be adopted.
