Commissioner Fendley absent. Mayor Jacobs offered motion that the reading of the Minutes for April 12, 1958 be waived and that the Minutes of said meeting as prepared by the City Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (4). Commissioner Fairhurst offered the following motion: I move that a petition dated April 30, 1956, signed by Mr. & Mrs. W. E. Lawson and others, requesting the opening of an alley running parallel to Koerner and Leiberman Streets between Bridge and Parker Streets, together with a report from the Director of Public Works concerning the amount of work required and the cost of same, be received and filed; I further move that said improvement be placed on the work program of the Public Works Department. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (4). Commissioner Fairhurst offered the following motion: I move that the petition signed by C. S. Huffman and others, requesting the grading, draining and gravel surfacing of the alley between Harrison and Clay Streets in the 2500 block, together wih the report concerning the amount of work required and the cost of same, be received and filed; I further move that said improvement be placed on the work program of the Public Works Department. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Gholson, Hook and P•iayor Jacobs (4). Commissioner Fairhurst offered motion that the petition of Cloyd P. Barriger and his wife, Margaret Sue Barriger for permission to make one 3/4 inch connection to the privately owned water pipe line located on Minnich Avenue for the purpose of furnishing water to one residence only to be built upon property now owned by petitioners and fronting 85 feet on Minnich Avenue in McCracken County, Kentucky, and outside the cor- porate limits of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be received and filed and that the reque1 petitioned for therein be granted subject to the terms and conditions in said petition. Thurman and his wife, Pearl Thurman, for permission to make one 3,14 inch connection to a 6 inch water. main owned by Paducah water Works so as to furnish water to one residence only to be constructed upon lots 8 and 9 of Thurman's Minerva Place Addition, said lots fronting 11.1.46 feet on the south aide of Court Avenue in McCracken County, Kentucky, and outside; the corporate limits or the City of Paducah, Kontucky, be received and filed, and that the request in said petition be rruntod in accordance with the terms and conditions con -1 tamed t%erein. Contract & Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the executed copy of the contract Bond South -r land Compan$ between the City of Paducah and The Southland Company for the sale to the City of Liquid Asphalt, together with the Performance Bond in the sum of $2,500.00, be received and filed. Employ Donald- Commissioner Gholson offered motion that Donald Lee Trimble be employed as Lee Trimble,/ Cemetery Y temporary laborer in the Cemetery Department of the City of Paducah at the rate of temporary yl.11j per hour, retroactive to April 21, 1958. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, I Commissioners Fairhurst, -Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (y). Employ Arthur, Commissioner Gholson offered motion that Arthur Harris be employed as temporary Harris Cemetery laborer in the Cemetery Department of the City of Paducah at the rate of ;jl.11 per temporary hour, retroactive to April 21, 1958. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (4). Liability Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive, policy Miller & k file and approve Certificate of Insurance issued by The Fidelity and Casualty Company Johnson of New York to C. C. Miller & Clifton Johnson d/b/a Miller & Johnson and the City of N Paducah, Kentucky for a period of one year from January 1, 1958. Adopted on call GGN of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (4). Start works Commissioner Gholson offered the following motion: WHEREAS, on March 8, 1958 Southside j, Ele School 1; by an ordinance adopted by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, the bid of Hal Perry for the construction of the Southside Elementary School in said city at a total cost of ;;178,890.00 was accepted and authorized, and WHEREAS, the revenue bonds issued to provide funds for the construction ofsaid school have been sold. NOW THEREFORE, I move that Hal Perry be, and he is hereby, directed and author -I ized by this motion to immediately start construction of said school as provided for I i in the contract and specifications. Liability polic es:i Commissioner Hook offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive, file W.E.Reed and John Cassidy and approve Certificate of Insurance issued by The Fidelity and Casualty Company of Const. Co. New York to id. E. Reed and the City of Paducah, Kentucky for a period of one year from May 6, 195$; also liability insurance issued by the United States Fidelity and Guaranty Company to the City of Paducah covering work done by John Cassidy Construction Company for a period of one year from April 6, 1958. Sign Cooperation Commissioner Hook offered motion that a Resolution entitled: "A RESOLUTION Agreement -Housing Commission AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY TO EXECUTE, FOR s, AND ON BEHALF OF SAID CITY, A COOPERATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PADUCAH 14U27ICIPAL HOUSING COMMISSION AND THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY", be adopted. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Gholson. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, i Commissioners Fairhurst, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (4). Apportionment Ordinance 195$ Commissioner Fairhurst offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE APPORTIONMENT OF THE PUBLIC FUNDS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, FOR THE YEAR 195$ AND APPROPRIATING THE PUBLIC REVENUE AND INCOME OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH FOR SUCH PURPOSES", be introduced and remain on file for public inspection for at least one :reek in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage.
