HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Book 23, Page 372, January 22, 1957No 372 — Proceedings of Board of Commissioners Gty of Paducah—JwuaCX—. �Q57 F At a Regular Meeting of the Board of commissioners held in the Commission chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Krntucky', at 7:30 P.M. on January 22, 1957, Mayor Jacobs presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Clark, Lally, Trevathan and Mayor Jacobs (4), Commissioner McBride being absent (1). I•;ayor Jacobs offered motion that the reading of the Minutes for January 15, 1957 be waived and that the Minutes of said meeting as prepared by the city Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, Lally, Trevathan and Mayor Jac obs (4). ?tater r� Commissioner Clark offered motion that the petition of James A. Platers and his � Connection Homewood wife, Agnes G. Platers, for permission to make one 3/4 inch connection to the privately Ave. James Waters owned water pipe line of the Husbands Road Community Plater Company for the purpose of furnishing water to one residence only upon a lot owned by petitioners fronting 134.2 feet on North side of Homewood Avenue in McCracken County, Kentucky; be received and filed and that the request petitioned for therein be granted subject to the terms and conditions in said petition. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, Lally, Trevathan and Mayor Jacobs (4). :tater Commissioner Lally offered motion that the petition of 0. T. Craig and wife, connection Husbands Rd Kate Craig, for permission to make one 3/4 inch connection to the privately owned water O.T.Craig pipe line of the Husbands Road Community Water Company for the purpose of furnishing water to one residence only upon a lot owned by petitioners fronting 75 feet on the West side of Husbands Road in McCracken County, Kentucky, be received and filed and that the request petitioned for therein be granted subject to the terms and conditions in said petition. A. Hale. President of the Magee -Hale Park -O -Meter Company, extending the acceptance extended on bid date on their bid proposal on parking meters until March 3, 1957, be received and filed. Civil Service Commissioner Clark offered motion that a copy of a motion adopted by the Civil Commission 4/' Certify Service Co=ission at a meeting held on January 19, 1957, certifying Mary Elwanda Jones :'ary Elwanda Jones - as eligible for the position of Clerk -typist in the Finance Department, be received and . Clerk -typist filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, Lally, Trevathan and Mayor Jacobs (4). Police report Co=isciorer Lally offered motion that the report of the police Department Imp parking; etc on improper parking and drunk under the wheel for the period ending January 21, 1957, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, Lally, Trevathan and Mayor Jacobs (4). Employ .•Iarren'' Commissioner Trevathan offered the following motion: Warren 0. Morris, 0. Morris fir, Mechanic having been certified by the Civil Service Commission, and he having one of the three Helper Pub. Works highest grades appearing on the Civil Service Register for Mechanic Helper, I move that he be appointed to the position of Mechanic Helper in the Public Works Department of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, under the Appointive Employees} Civil Service Ordinance, said appointment to be effective as of February 1, 1957. Cemetery Commissioner Trevathan offered motion that the letter of Elizabeth Davis remove body / of Charlie ` dated January 17, 1957, authorizing the removal of the body of Charlie Hale from Lot I Hale to Lot 62, Sec 3 20, Section 3 to Lot 62, section 3 in Oak Grove Cemetery, be received and filed. B ,, Basebal aseball of Assoc Commissioner Trevathan offered motion that a copy of the motion adopted on meeting December 7, 1956 by the Directors of the Paducah Baseball Association recommending to its stockholders the sale to the City of the real estate and improvements of Brooks Stadium; and a copy of an amendment to the resolution; and a copy of the minutes of the stockholder's meeting held on January 17, 1957 adopting the above motion of the directors be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, Lally, Trevathan and Mayor Jacobs (4). Appoint Kenneth Joe Commissioner Clark offered motion that Kenneth Joe Coley be appointed as Coley fire- a fireman in the fire department of the City of Paducah, Kentucky at the beginning ran salary of •1245 per month, effective January 23, 1957, provided that by such time he furnishes the City Nanager, at his own expense, a satisfactory medical report i as to his physical condition, including an electrocardigram. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, Lally, Trevathan and :Mayor Jacobs (4). Appoint Ro.lie J. Commissioner Trevathan offered motion that Rollie J. Frances be appointed Frances fireman as a fireman in the fire department of the City of Paducah, Kentucky at the beginning salary of .;245.00 per month, effective January 23, 1957, provided that by such time he furnishes the .ity ?tanager, at Ilia own expense, a satisfactory medical report ( as to his physical condition., Including an electrocardigram.
