HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Book 23, Page 336, October 16, 1956Ne. 336 ProceedlagsoF Board of Commissioners City of Paducah October 16,_1956 it ij F At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on :'ctober 16, 1956, Mayor Jacobs presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: ` Commissioners Clark, Lally, McBride, trevathan and Mayor Jacobs (5). Mayor Jacobs offered motion that the reading of the Minutes for October 9, 1956 be waived and that the Minutes of said meeting as prepared by the City Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, Lally, McBride, Trevathan and Mayor Jacobs (5). Report police Commissioner Clark offered motion that the report of the Police Department on Deptimp. parking etc improper parking and drunk under the wheel for the period from October 9, 1956 thru October 15, 1956, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, Lally, McBride, Trevathan and Mayor Jacobs (5). Refund Bldg / Commissioner Clerk offered the following motion: I move that the letter of Dermit to , i•. Hank 3:em. Oscar Talmage, City Treasurer, regarding refund of building permit to Margaret Hank i Church Memorial Presby. Church, be received and filed. Since the building permit will not be used, I further move that the amount of $94.00 be refunded to said church. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, Lally, McBride, Trevathan and Mayor Jacobs (5). B.D.Sills / Commissioner Clark offered the following motion: B.D.Sills, having been certified Civil Service appointment by the Civil Service Commission, and he having one of the three highest grades appearing on the Civil Service Register for Assistant City Treasurer, be appointed to the posi- tion, of Assistant City Treasurer in the Finance Department of the City of Paducah, Kentucky under the Appointive Employeest Civil Service Ordinance, said appointment to be effective as of October 16, 1956. Resolution 1/ Commissioner Lally offered motion that the Resolution from the Paducah Area l61nisteri.al association Ministerial Association to the Board of Commissioners, Paducah, Kentucky, relative Police Chief to the selection of a Chief of Police, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, Lally, McBride, Trevathan and Mayor Jacobs (5). Re-,ignation /' Commissioner Lally offered motion that the resignation of Grady Cope, a laborer, Grady Cope % Cer..etery in the Cemetery Department, effective as of 12:00 Noon, October 6, 1956, be received, filed and accepted. Yancy having requested permit band reduced to that his permit bond in the amount of1;,000.00 +1,000.00 be reduced to y1,000.00, and it appearing from a memorandum from Ray Y,.ayse, Director of Public 19orks, that all permits issue! to W. H. Yancy have been approved un to and including October 15, 1956, I therefore ;.Ove that the City h1anager be directed to sign the attached fon; on behalf Of t11e City of Paducah and return same to The Fidelity and Casualty Company of Now York. Commissioner McBride offered motion that the letter of Ed Turner, Chieg of the Fire Department of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, concerning the razing of a house at 1218 Jackson Street, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, Lally, (`IcBride, Trevathan and Mayor Jacobs (5). Commissioners Commissioner McBride offered motion that the letter from George M. Rock, v Secretary of the Cemetery Advisory Board, regarding Oak Grove Cemetery, be received Ii and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, Lally, McBride, Trevathan and Mayor Jacobs (5). Commissioner Trevathan offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive and file letter from P. C. Mattoon, Assistant I•Tanager, Sears, Roebuck and Company expressing appreciation for the fine cooperation shown by the street department in l the recent repairs made to the Broadway curbing and the alley behind their store. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, Lally, McBride, Trevathan jand Mayor Jacobs (5). Commissioner Trevathan offered motion that this Board receive and file the Statement of Receipts and Disbursements of Paducah Airport Corporation for the year 1955, also the report for the period from January 1 through June 30, 1956. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, Lally, McBride, Trevathan and Mayor Jacobs (5). Commissioner Clark offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDIIIAICE AUTHORIZING THE CLOSING OF A CERTAIN PORTION OF I•1URRAY AVENUE BEST OF CULLY STREET, AND AUTHORIZING THE CORPORATION COUNSEL TO INSTITUTE ACTION IN THE McCRACKEN CIRCUIT COURT FOR THE PURPOSE OR CLOSING SUCH PORTION OF SUCH STREET", be adopted. adopted on call of the Roll,Yeas, Commissioners Clark, Lally, McBride, Trevathan and Mayor Jacobs (5). Commissioner Trevathan offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE PROPOSING ANNEXATION AND DECLARING THE DESIRABILITY AND NECESSITY OF EXTENDING THE BOUNDARY OF TIfc CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY BY AINEXING CERTAIN PROPERTY OF JAMES W.
