Parking, etc Register Laborers Report Police Deptv Continued cases i tploy Calvin Mallory Laborer Public works under Civil Service settlement Refuse August 1956 No. 329 — City of p d..h Se tember 25j_ At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on September 25, 1956, Mayor Jacobs presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their namesi Commissioner: Clark, McBride, Trevathan and Mayor Jacobs (4). Mayor Jacobs offered motion that the reading of the Minutes for September 11 & September 14, 1956 be waived and that the Minutes of said meetings as prepared by the City Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, McBride, Trevathan and Mayor Jacobs (4). Commissioner Clark offered the following motion: I move that the petition of Ben Boswell, Jr. and his wife, Mildred Boswell for permission to make one 3/4 inch connection to the 2 inch privately owned water pipe line owned by Loren M. Jones so as to furnish water to one residence to be constructed upon all of lot 3, 25 feet off the south side of lot No. 2 and 25 feet off the north side of lot No. 4 all in block No. 8 of Minerva Place Addition to the City of Paducah fronting 100 feet on the west side of Minerva Place Addition in McCracken County, Kentucky, and outside the corporate limits of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be received and filed and that the request in said petition be granted in accordance with'the terms and conditions in said petition. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, McBride, Trevathan and Mayor Jacobs (4). Commissioner Clark offered motion that the report of the police department on improper parking and drunk under the wheel, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, MdBride, Trevathan and Mayor Jacobs (4). Commissioner Clark offered motion that the motion, adopted on September 15, 1956 by the Civil Service Commission, establishing a register for qualified persons for the position of Laborer, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, McBride, Trevathan and Mayor Jacobs (4). Commissioner McBride offered motion that the report of the Police Department showing disposition of continued cases, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, McBride, Trevathan and Mayor Jacobs (4). Commissioner McBride offered motion that Calvin H. Mallory, having been certifies by the Civil Service Commission, and he having one of the three highest grades appeariN on the Civil Service Register for Laborer, be appointed to the position of Laborer in i the Public Works Department of the City of Paducah, Kentucky under the Appointive Employees Civil Service Ordinance. Said appointment to be retroactively effective as of September 19, 1956. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, McBride, Trevathan and Mayor Jacobs (4). Commissioner McBride offered the following motion: I move that the SETTLEMENT: CITY REFUSE ACCOUNTS - August 31, 1956, prepared and submitted by the Paducah Water Works, be received and filed. I further move that the check in the amount of x9,861.45 be turned over to the City Treasurer to be deposited in the General. Fund. Adopted on call ofthe Roll,i Yeas, Co=issioners Clark, McBride, Trevathan and !•.ayor J (4), Jacobs No. Proceedings of Board of Commissioners City of Paducah September 25, 1956 Commissioner Trevathan offered motion that the agreement signed by Williams Williams for auditing the city's financigl records for the year 1956 in accordance i with the terms of an ordinance adopted on September 11, 1956, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, McBride, Treifathan and Mayor Jacobs (4). Commissioner Trevathan offered motion that, the Board of Commissioners receive, approve and file the following: Certificate of Insurance issued by the Fidelity & Casualty Company to Carmac Construction Company for a period of one year from October 1, 1956. Liability policy issued by the United States Fidelity and Guaranty Company to the City of Paducah covering work done by J. A. House & Jesse Sparks d/b/a City Plumbing I Heating Company for a period of one year from July 31, 1956. Bond of the said City Plumbing & Heating Company in the amount of $1000.00 dated August S, 1956. Bond of G & H Plumbing and Heating Company in the amount of 01000.00 dated September 11, 1956. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, IfcBride, Trevathan and Mayor Jacobs (4). Commissioner Trevathan offered motion that a letter dated September 10, 1956, signed by Mr. & Mrs. R. C. Newman and addressed to the Mayor and City Commissioners, endorsing the payroll tax and requesting that it be kept in force, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, McBride, Trevathan and payor Jacobs (4). Commissioner Trevathan offered the following motion: I move that Pat Lally I be appointed as a Commissioner of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, and as such Commission- er to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Harold L. Gangnath; such appointment to be effective immediately after the said Pat Lally qualifies for such office by taking i the Oath of Office provided by lace and executing bond as such Commissioner as pro- vided by law; and such appointment shall continue until his successor is duly elected accordin-, to law. Commissioner McBride offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY 1.191AGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH MIDDLE WEST ROADS COI•IPANY FOR � THE RESURc'ACING OF NOT MORE THAI: TEN BLOCKS OF STREETS IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, INCLUDIIIG THE RAISING AND RESETTING OF MANHOLES, CATCH BASINS AND I41ONU1,72ITS, AILD PRE3CRIBI!.G THE TERMS AND COhJITIONS OF SAID CONTRACT", be adopted. Pat Lally took the Cath of Office and executed bond as required by law. Repeal Payroll t Commissioner Trevathan offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINAN tax ordinances! REPEALING AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED: TAN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE IMPOSITION OF LICENS FEES FOR THE PRIVILEGE OF,ENGAGING IN OCCUPATIONS, TRADES AND PROFESSIONS IN THE CITY Petition Playground OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, BY ALL PERSONS EMPLOYED BY OTHERS, MEASURED BY ONE-HALF OF ONE PERCENT OF THE GROSS RECEIPTS EARNED _ON AND AFTER THE FIRST. Mayor Jacobs offered motion that the petition relative to a location in the vicinity of 6th & Cgldwell Streets for use as a baseball field and playground for children in that area, be received, filed and referred to the City ?tanager for investigation.
