HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Book 23, Page 327, September 14, 1956Proceedings of Board of Commissioners City of Paducah September_ Li.,. 1 — �^ At a Called Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 4:00 P.M. on September 14, 1956, �I Mayor Jacobs presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Clark, McBride, Trevathan and Mayor Jacobs (4). Meeting was called for the purpose of hearing charges which had been I preferred by Lloyd C. Emery, City Manager, against Pete Throgmorton, a police officer of the Cit and such other matters as may City of Paducah, y properly come befog the I, meeting. f Board of " Commissioner Clark offered the following motion: I move that R. E. Equalization for year 1956 Vennum, John :9. Crider and Jess E. Thurman be appointed to serve as members of the appointed Board of Equalization of the City of Paducah for the year 1956s that the members of said board, after being first duly sworn to faithfully discharge the duties of their office, be directed to meet at the City Hall on the 16th day of October, 1956, to elect from among themselves a Chairman and a Clerk, to notify the City Auditor that they are ready to receive the assessment books and to then proceed with the equalization of assessments on all real and personal property within the city subject R to taxation in accordance with the provisions of law, the members of said board to receive for their services the amount fixed by ordinance. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, McBride, Trevathan and Mayor Jacobs (4). Change Order'Commissioner McBride offered motion that the executed copy of Change ITO 2 Eastwood] Sanitary sewers Order Pio. 2, Section II Sanitary Sewers of the Sanitary Sewerage Improvement Program, dated September 11, 1956, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, McBride, Trevathan and Mayor Jacobs (4). Accept c.ffer Commissioner Trevathan offered motion that the offer of Yellow Cab Company Yellow Cab Co.' u Ed 1:elber ,/ and Ed Mdelber to pay the City of Paducah the sum of $663.02 for damages to a police car damage to Police car equipment belonging to the City be accepted and he further moved that the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to execute a full and complete release to said Yellow Cab Company and Ed Mielber upon receipt of said sum of w663.02. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, McBride, Trevathan and Mayor Jacobs (4). The next order of business was the hearing of charges against- Pete Throgrnorton. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, McBride, Trevathan and Mayor Jacobs (4). After hearing the evidence, Payor Jacobs offered the following motion: I Move that the Board of Commissioners adopt the follo;ring and attached findin s of fact and jud;gaent upon charges preferred by Lloyd C. It is therefore the judgment of the Board of Commissioners that the defendant, Pete Throgmorton be, and he is hereby, suspended without pay as a member of the Police Department of the City of Paducah, Kentucky for a period of ten (10) days, effective immediately. LOST.i on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners McBride and Mayor Jacobs (2), Nays, Commissioners Clark and Trevathan (2). -Commissioner Trevathan offered the following motion: I move that the Board of Commissioners adopt the following and attached findings of fact and.judgment upon charges preferred by Lloyd C. Emery, City I -Tanager against Pete Throgmorton: 'The Mayor and Board of Commissioners having heard the evidence upon the charges preferred against the defendaht, Pete Throgmorton, by Lloyd C. Emery, City Manager, and being sufficiently advised, it now finds that the defendant has not been guilty of violating any portion of Rule 8 of an ordinance adopted by the Board of Commissioners on January 7, 1947, which rule reads as follows: 8. Cowardice, inefficiency or neglect in the performance of duty or disobedience to lawful orders of a superior officer. It is therefore the judgment of the Boa3'd of Commissioners that the charges against the defendant, Pete Throgmorton be, and they are hereby dismissed. LOST on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark and Trevathan (2), Nays, Commissioner McBride and Mayor Jacobs (2). On motion the meeting adjourned.
