HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Book 23, Page 290, May 28, 1956No.—.— 290 Proceedings of Board of Corlmiss•ionersCrty of Paducah - At a Called Ideeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.AI, on May 22, 1956, Mayor Jacobs presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Clark, Gangnath, IcBride, Trevathan and I'>Zyor Jacobs (5). Mayor Jacobs offered motion that the copies of the Notice of Called Mecting to be held at 7:30 P.M. on May 28, 1956, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, Gangnath, McBride, Trevathan and Mayor Jacobs (5). Settlement Commissioner Clark offered motion that the check of Merchants Fire Assurance I or stolen . fire &wheel Corporation of New York in the amount of $I,4.19 payable to the City of Paducah for loss of one (1) tire and wheel stolen from an automobile used by the police department of the City on I -larch 30, 1956 at the street department garage, be received and that the same be delivered to the City Treasurer with instructions to credit same to Account No. 3185. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, Ganmath, McBride, Trevathan and :.ayor Jacobs (5). Sell lot Commissioner Clark offered motion that the Board of Commissioners approve the Rushin. Add to :--le sale by the City of Paducah to Myrtle Moss of Lot 1$ in Block'7 of the Rushing Addition ::oss to Oak Grove Cemetery, and that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of con- veyance to said cemetery lot. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, Gangnath, McBride, Trevathan and Mayor Jacobs (5). Builders Risk Commissioner Clark offered motion that the Memorandum of Insurance issued by the Tnsurance I/ Carrothers New Hampshire Fire Insurance Company, shotring the Builder's Risk Insurance with extended Const. cc coverage secured by Carrothers Construction Company, Inc. for their operations under Contracts 1 and 3 of the Sewerage Improvement Program, be received and filed. Arr:ended Commissioner Gangnath offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive, Liability policy file and approve the Amended Certificate of Insurance issued by the Hartford Accident East -wood PlL Heating and Indemnity Company covering work done by John A. Eastwood, Jr. d/b/a Eastwood Plumbing Company and Heatir_ Company for a period of one year from April 16, 1956. Carrothers Contract be, and it is hereby, notified to commence work upon Contract No. 1, Sewage Pump No. 1 Pump Stations Stations of the: Sanitary Sewerage Improvement Program, within ten (10) days from this date, and tint the City Clerk immediately forward to said Carrothers Construction Company+ Inc, a cerci'lea copy of this motion. I further move that the check in the amount of ;18,997.90 i be turned over to the City Treasurer to be deposited in the general fund. Sell grave Commissioner Trevathan offered motion that theBoard of Commissioners approve Rushing Add U Prentice U the sale by the City of Paducah to Prentice Howard of the Fast one-half of Lot 17 Howard 1 in Block ilo. 7 of the Rushing Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery, and that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery grave. Employ Carl Commissioner Trevathan offered motion that Carl Baker be, and he is hereby, Baker in Refuse Div. employed as a laborer in the refuse division of the City at an hourly rate of 01.17ili June 1, 19561 per hour for the first six months and ti1.25 per hour thereafter. Such employment to begin on June 1st, 1956. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, Gangnath, McBride, Trevathan and Meyor Jacobs (5). Transfer Commissioner Trevathan offered the following motion: I move that the affidavit portion of cemetery lot of descent executed on May 7, 1956 by Mrs. Frank Patter relative to the heirs of Susan to Arthur Watts N wife Jane Phillips who was theowner of Lot 26 in Section "F" of Oak Grove Cemetery, be received and filed. I further move that the Board of Commissioners approve the transfer from Mrs. Clara Phillips Patter and her husband, Frank Patter, to Arthur watts and his wifo, q Ella -�latts, of the following described portion of Lot 26 in Section "F", and that the City Clerk be directed to make the proper transfer on the Cemetery Register. Adopted on call of the Holl, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, Gangnath, McBride, Trevathan and Mayor Jacobs (5). Commissioner Gangnath offered motion that a Resolution entitled:' "A RESOLUTIC AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR 13IDS FOR 2000 FEET OF 2A INCH FIRE HOSE AUD 1000 FEET OF 1J IIdCH HOSE FOR USE BY, THE FIRE DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS UNDER VIHICH SAID PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, Gangnath, McBride, Trevathan and Iayor Jacobs (5). Commissioner McBride offered motion that.a Resolution entitled:. "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT BETI9EEN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY AliD THE NASHVILLE, CHATTANOOGA & ST. LOUIS RAILWAY FOR THE CON- STRUCTION OF A'12 INCH CAST IRON SEVIER MAIN BENEATH THE TRACKS OF THE RAILVIAY COMPANY" be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, Gangnath, McBride, Trevathan and Payor Jacobs (5). Commissioner McBride offered motion that the petition of the Outboard boating Club of Paducah regarding, construction of a ramp on the river front between Broadway and Kentucky Avenue, etc, be received, filed and approved. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, Gangnath, McBride, Trevathan and Mayor Jacobs (5). I•ayor Jacobs offered motion that the'resignation of Harold L. Gangnath as City Commissioner be received, filed and accepted with deepest regret. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, McBride, Trevathan and Mayor Jacobs (4).
