Prior to the openin; of the Rogular i:eetinn, of the Board of Commissioners
the new 'ayor, George Jacobs and City Commissioners Troy Clark, Harold Gangnath,
Korris i•;cBride and Ed Trevathan took the Oath of Office which was administered by
the Honorable Roy Stewart, Judge of I.;cCracken County.
At a Regular I•Ieeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission
Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.I•I. on December 27, 1955, =Mayor
Cherry presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names:
Commissioners Hannin, Jacobs and Mayor Cherry (3), Commissioners Hughes and Riggs bei
absent (2).
Mayor Cherry offered motion that the reading of the I•iinutes for December 20,
1955 be waived and that the I•Iinutes of said meeting as prepared by the City Clerk be
approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Hannin,
Jacobs and Mayor Cherry (3).
I•'ayor Cherry offered motion that the attached list showing achievements of
the city officials during the past four years, be received and filed. Adopted on call
of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Hannin, Jacobs and Mayor Cherry (3).
I•;ayor Cherry offered motion that a record of the ceremony of swearing the
new I+ayor and Commissioners be incorporated in the minutes of this meeting. Adopted o
call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Hannin, Jacobs and Mayor Cherry (3).
Mayor Cherry offered the following motion: Since Governor Chamdler has
declared December 31 a legal holiday, I move that all city emploeyees, with tiie e.xceptio
of the police and fire department personnel, be allowed a one-half holiday on that date

Commissioner Hannin offered motion that the claim of William Fletcher in the

by him w—ile an employee of the City of Paducah be allowed, and that the City Treasurorl
be, and he is hereby, authorized to issue a check of the City to the said William
Fletcher for said sura after securing a full and complete release. Adopted on call

approved by the street department, I further move that the City Clerk be authorized ane
directed to sign the release on said bond and to return the liability insurance binder
to said company for cancellation. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners
Hannin, Jacobs and iayor Cherry (3).

Commissioner Jacobs offered motion that exonerations prepared and delivered
✓ by the City Treasurer, being 7;19045 through 7719054, inclusive, be received and riled,
and that the amounts oP same totaling `„1$5.45 be exonerated on the tax bills shoran and
designated by said exonerations. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners
I'lannin, Jacobs and Payor Cherry (3).
Commissioner Jacobs offered the following motion: I move that the
SETTLEI•ENT - CITY REFUSE ACCOUNT - november 1955 prepared and submitted by the Paducah
Water Works, be received and filed.
I further move that the check in the amount of ;9,711.43 be turned over to
the City Treasurer to be deposited in the general fund. Adopted on call of the
Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Hannin, Jacobs and mayor Cherry (3).
Commissioner Jacobs offered motion that the Board of Commissioners approve
the sale by the City of Paducah to Cliff Crayford of Lot no. 8 in Block No. 7 of the
Rushing Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery, and that the City Cleric be authorized to
execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery lot. Adopted on call of the Roll,
