HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Book 22, Page 69, June 6, 1950No. -.._-- Proceedings of Board of Commissioners City of Ped.c.h June 61 1950 At a Regular Meeting of the board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber at the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7;30 P.M. on June 6, 1950, Mayor Johnston pre- sided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Hannin, Jacobs, Sims, Thomas and Mayor Johnston (5) Minutes of the previous meeting were adopted as read. Paducah Battery petition Commissioner Jacobs offered motion that the petition signed by employees of the opposing payroll tax Paducah Battery Company opposing the payroll tax ordinance be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Hannin, Jacobs, 31ms, Thomas and Mayor Johnston (5). Letter C.I.Boyd Commissioner Hannin offered motion that the letter of Chas. I. Boyd, Sr., re- Col housing v site questing consideration of his plan t''^at the new housing project for colored people be constructed on the north side of the city, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the roll, Yeas, Commissioners Hannin, Jacobs, Sims, Thomas and Mayor Johnston (5). St. Lightcommissioner � Hannin offered motion that the recommendations of the City tanager Clay 16-17 and the Chief of Police relative to the need for a street light on Clay Street between i 16th and 17th streets be received and filed and that the City Manager be directed to request the Kentucky Utilities Company to install a street light at that location. f i Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Hannin, Jacobs, Sims, Thomas and Mayor Johnston (5). Loading Zone 4- Commissioner Thomas offered motion that the letter of Lir. Tom ;iilson for IVilson's refer to Chief of police Book Store, Rogers Jewelry Store and the Thom McAn Shoe Store, requesting that a loading 1 zone be provided for the use of said stores on the south side of Broadway between 3rd and 4th streets be received and filed. It appearing from an ordinance adopted by the Board of Commissioners on September f l7th, 1925, that the Police Department is authorized to determine the exact location of loading zones within the city, and the Chief of Police may lay off such zones as may be 1i 1 necessary provided no more than one-half of the total curb length of any block in the central traffic district is used for that purpose; I therefore move that the request of said stores for a loadin zone at the locatioiu stated be referred to Col. Laricley Graham, Chief' of Police. No. i0 Proceedings of._ f=card_Or CommissionersCty of Poduwh June 6, 1950 Loading one Commissioner Thomas offered the following motion: Albritton Restaurant having refer to Chief of requested the board of Commissioners to establish a loading zone at his place of busines, ?01100 on the north side of 4ntuoky Avenue between 2nd and 3rd Streets, and it appearing from i ordinance adopted by the Board of Commissioners on September 17, 1925, that the Police Department is authorized to determine the exact location of loading zones within the cit, and the Chief of Police may lay off such zones as may be necessary provided no more that one-half of the total curb length of any block in the central traffic district is used for that purpose; I therefore move that the request of said Albrittonts Restqurant for a loading zone at the above location be referred to Col. Barkley Graham, Chief of Police. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Hannin, Jacobs, Sims, Thomas and Mayor Johnston (5). Loading Zone Commissioner Thomas offered the following motion: I move that the letter of ml`. refer to Chief of Dison Hart of Hart Hardware Company requesting that a loading zone be provided for the Police use of said store on the west side of South Third In front of 115 South 3rd Street be received and filed. It appearing from an ordinance adopted bj the Board of Commissioners on September 17, 1925, that the Police Department is authorized to determine the exact location of loading zones within the city, and the Chief of Police may lay off such zones as may be necessary provided no more than one-half of the total curb length of any block in the central traffic district is used for that purpose; I therefore move that the request of said store for a loading zone at the above location be referred to Col.
