HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Book 22, Page 51, May 2, 195051_ Proceedingsof Board of Commissioners City of Paducah May 2, 1950 At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners hold in the Commission i Chamber at the City Rall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on May 2, 1950, Mayor Johnstoni presided and upon call of the roll the following answerod to their names: Commissioners Fannin, Jacobs, Sims, Thomas and Mayor Johnston (5). Minutes of the previous meeting were adopted as read. ,.,later Line , Commissioner Fannin offered motion that the petition of Joseph R. York and wife, Oaks Road ' Nancy Kathleen York, residing on Oaks Road in MoCraoken County, outside the corporate limits of Paducah, Kentucky, for authority to lay and construct a water line for the purpose of providing water service to the building located on the property of petitioners i be received and filed and that the request in said petition be granted in accordance i I with the terms set forth therein. I It is understood, however, in granting the privilege sought in said petition neither the City of Paducah nor the Commissioners of water Works shall be obligated to buy said pipe line or any part thereof, and no such obligation shall be contained or be implied hereafter should the territory to be served by the water line to be laid under the authority herein requested be taken into or made a part of the City of Paducah. It is further understood that the petitioners will subscribe for water service at the rates now or hereafter prescribed for water service to consumers outside the city' limits of Paducah and subject in all respects to the rules and regulations of the City of Paducah or its Commissioners of hater Norks which may be now in force or hereinafter I az so ted. Sus Sor- Commissioner Jacobs offered motion that the letter of the Paducah Bus Company of vice Tyler April 19th written to Mr. C. R. Moffitt, the City Lfanager, with reference to the bus Route service schedule on the Tyler Route be received and filed. Adopted on call of the roll, Yeas, Commissioners Hannin, Jacobs, Sims, Thomas and Mayor Johnston (5). Bond Commissioner Jacobs offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive, file Charles T. and approve the bond in the amount of $2,000.00 executed by Charles T. Edwards as princip 1 Edv,•ards and the United States Fidelity & Guaranty Company, as his surety, as required under the provisions of an ordinance entitled: "API ORDINANCE REGULATING THE DIGGING, OPENING OR EXCAVATING IN ANY STREET, SIDEWALK, GRASS PIAT, ALLEY OR OTHER PUBLIC NAY OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AM FIXING THE PENALTY FOR ANY VIOLATION THEREOF," which was adopted by the Board of Commissioners on September 24th, 1946. James Commissioner Sims offered motion that the Board of Commissioners approve payment Robison salary of the salary of Officer James Robison through May 31, 1950. N!v Z, 1950 Mayor Johnston offered motion that the attorney for the city be authorized to prepare for the next regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners an ordinance providing for day light saving time in the City of Paducah. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fannin, Jacobs, Sims, Thomas and Mayor Johnston (5). j S 6th St. i:< Mayor Johnston offered motion that the City Manager be requested to make an j Traffic investigate investigation of traffic conditions on South Sixth Street and report to the Board of Commissioners as to whether the adoption of an ordinance prohibiting the parking of vehicles on one side of said street vlould relieve the congestion of traffic on said i street and if so, the portion of said street on which parking on only one side should be permitted. A. Bridgwater, doing business under the firm name of R. A. hridgwator cease operations Sanitary Garbage Disposal Company, that he will cease operations under the franchise on i the 25th day of June, 1950 by reason of his claim that the City of Paducah has broached f its frarchice and contract with him.
