HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Book 22, Page 369, March 11, 1952No. 369 Proceedings of Board of Commissioners City of Paducah March 11, 1952 ri L' At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on March 11, 1952, Mayor Cherry presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioner Clark, Jacobs, Johnston, Morrow and Mayor Cherry (5). Minutes of the previous meeting were adopted as read. Commissioner Clark offered motion that the petition of Jesse W. Brandon and wife, Water Line Ruby L. Brandon, per permission to make one 3/4 inch connection to the 2 inch water pipe Orchard Htd ', line owned by the Orchard Heights Water Company so as to furnish water to one residence to be constructed upon property owned by petitioners on Lot 10, Orchard Heights Sub- I division, outside the city limits of Paducah, Kentucky be received and filed with the request petitioned for therein be granted subject to the terms and conditions in said petition. It is understood, however, that in granting the privileges sought in said petition neither the City of Paducah nor the Commissioners of Water Works shall be obligated to r buy said pipe line or any part thereof, and no such obligation shall be obtained or be implied hereafter should the territory to be served by the water line to be laid under the authority herein requested be taken into or made a part of the City of Paducah. It is further understood that the petitioners will subscribe for water service at j the rates now or hereafter prescribed for water service to consumers outside the city j limits and subject in all respects to the rul es and regulations of the City of Paducah or its Commissioners of Water Works which may be now in force or hereafter enacted. I � Nothing in the granting of this petition shall obligate the City of Paducah or its Commissioners of Water Works to guarantee water pressure or service and said water service may be discontinued through said pipe line or any part thereof at any time when in the judgment of the Commissioners of Water Works the furnishing of water to the petitioners or their successors in ownership of the property now owned by them may interfere in any wise with the adequate supply and distribution of water inside the corporate limits of the City of Paducah. Election Commissioner Clark offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive, file Board of Trustees and spread upon the Minutes the results of an election held on March 7, 1952, for the Appointive Employees purpose of electing three employee members of the Board of Trustees of the Appointive Pension Fund Employees Pension Fund. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, Jacobs, Johnston, Morrow and Mhyor,.Cherry (5). Bonds & Commissioner Jacobs offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive, Policies Youngblood file and approve the following liability policies and 'bond issued pursuant to an ordinance Flo. Cc Lois Richard regulating .he opening and excavating in streets and other public way3 of the City of Harrison Paducah: Certificate of Insurance issued by the United States Fidelity and Guaranty Company to C. W' Ycungb)ood dba Ycunpblood Plumbing and Heating Supply Company for a period of one year from February 27, 1952. Certificate of Insurance issued by the Fidelity and Cauual.ty Company to Lois Richard Harrison for a period of one year from March 7, 1952. r. ncad of Lois Richard Harrison in the amount of Z,1000, dated Farch 7, 1952. Pilley between 29th street and the P&I railroad right of way. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissipners Clark, Jacobs, Johnston, Morrow and Mayor Cherry (5). Street Dept/Commissioner Johnston offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive and request ,// wage file the letter of Union Local No. 1116, signed by Van Johnson, its President, re - increase questing that the night workers in the streer division be granted an adjustment in wages. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, Jacobs, Johnston, Morrow and Mayor Cherry (5). Doctors Commissioner Johnston offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive and request increase I file the letters of Drs. Casper, Vaughn and Farley, requesting that the ordinance Dog Innoc.l fee regulating the licensing of dogs be amended increasing the fee fpr innoculation of dogs from '1.00 to '1.75. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, Jacobs, Johnston, Morrow and Mayor Cherry (5). Close alley Commissioner Johnston offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive and btw. f Jackson & file copy of the Resolution adopted by the City Planning and Zoning Commission Clinton Ct. at 29th St recommending the closing of a public alley extending in a westerly direction from a point 166 feet west of the west line of 29th street between Jackson street and Clinton Court a distance of 356 feet. Treasurer, Commissioner Johnston offered motion that the Deed of Conveyance from Miranda deed to J brief prop- Grief and Oscar K. Fire Station Co=issioner Morrow offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive and 12th & Burnett file the flashing endorsement and Guaranty bond No. 7025-C guaranteeing for twenty year Roo: Guaranty the roof cn fire Station No. 3 located at 12th and Burnett Streets. Mrs. Pillet' Cortmissioner Morrow offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive and paycosts o.losink file the letter of MacDonald and Melton in which they state that Mrs. Maxine R. Pilley ;limon CL & Alley will bear all legal expenses in closing that part of the alley and the Old Clinton Road now running through her property. Penny Company covering Mrs. Earles purchase of a lamp by Mrs. Bettie Earles, 1001 Scuth 26th Gtroet, Paducah, Kentucky, be received and filed. Sam Livingst� Mayor Cherry offered motion that the letter of Mr. Sam Livingston, dated March resigns Golf Commission 5, tendering his resignation as a member of the Paducah Golf Commission, be received and filed and that Mr. Livingston's resignation be accepted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas Commissioners Clark, Jacobs, Johnston, Morrow and Mayor Cherry (5). Jack House ✓ Mayor Cherry offered the following motion: Sam Livingston having resigned appointed Golf Comm. as a member of the Paducah Golf Commission, subject to the approval of the Board of Commissioners, I hereby appoint Jack House to serve as a member of the said commission for the balance of the unexpired term of Sam Livingston, so that said board as now constituted shall be composed of the following: E. J.
