HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Book 22, Page 338, January 8, 1952No.. - ...__338 Proceedings of Ba:r,i of Commissioners _.City of Paducah January 8, 1952 At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on January 8, 1952, Mayor Cherry presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners a - Clark, Jacobs, Johnston, Morrow and Mayor Cherry (5)• Minutes of J Mayor Cherry offered the following motion: I move that a letter dated January 8, 1 52, Jan 2, 1952, be re -read $ addressed to the Mayor and Commissioners by the Corporatioh Counsel on the subject "Term and readopted zter Line v .enton Road ..-:ter line 7harm La, of Office of Mayor and Commissioners" be received and filed. I further move that the recommendation of the Corporation Counsel as stated in said letter be complied with and that all business, petitions, motions, resolutions and ordi- nances which were considered at a meeting of this Board on January 2, 1952, be reconsider d reread and revoted on including the minutes of the December 26, 1951 meeting. Adopted o call of the Roll, Yeas Commissioners Clark, Jacobs, Johnston, Morrow and Player Cherry (5)• Minutes of the previous meetings were adopted as read. Commissioner Clark offered motion that the petition of 0. E. Allen and wife, Etzel 4 Allen, residing on the Benton Road outside the corporate limits of Paducah, Kentucky, for authority to connect a 3/4 inch copper water pipe line to the three (3) inch privately owned water line owned by Edwin Hancock, Mrs. Emma Wilks, Emmett Helm, T. D. Dickerson, John Sheppard, L. S. Spann and others for the purpose of providing water service for domestic purposes to the residence of said petitioners,be received and filed and that the requests in said petition be granted in accordance with the terms set forth therein. It is further understood that the petitioners will subscribe for water service at the rates now or hereafter prescribed for water service to consumers outside the city limits of Paducah and subject in all respects to the rules and regulations of the City of Paducah or its Commissioners of Water Works which may be now in force or hereinafter enacted. L.Houston and wife, Sunset Ct. h Euprey Houston, William J. Helm and wife, Mary Lou Helm, for permission to make two 3/4 inch connections to the 2 inch water pipe line owned by Loren M. Jones so as to i furnish water to two residences to be constructed upon property owned by petitioners, be received and filed and the request petitioned for therein be granted subject to the terms and conditions of said petition. It is understood, however, that in granting the privileges sought in said petition neither the City of Paducah nor the Commissioners of Water Works shall be obli- y gated to buy said pipe line or any part thereof, and no obligation shall be obtained or to implied hereafter should the territory to be served by the Water line to be laid I under the authority herein requested be taken into or made a part of the City of Paducah. Ratcliff of Grave No. 13$ in Block No. 7 of the "c. Rushing Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery, and that the City Clerk be authorized to execute tg a seed of conveyance to said cemetery grave. Muthig to Mrs. George Fielder of a plot of ground, being 4 x 9 feet on the right rear of Lot 32 in Block ^F" in Oak Grove Cemetery and that the City Clerk be authorized to make the proper transfer on the Cemetery Register. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Clark, Jacobs, Johnston, Morrow and Mayor Cherry (5)• Commissioner Jacobs offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive and 'v file requests for the installation of street lights at the following intersections in the City of Paducah: 30th and Washington Streets; 30th and Clark Streets; 26th and Jackson streets. He further moved that the City Manager be directed to have an investigation made to determine the need for these lights and if such investigation discloses that all or any of them are necessary that the City Manager request the Kentucky Utilities Company to make the installations. Mayor Cherry offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive and file a copy of an Act making certain amendments in KRS 89.440 relating to the holding of primary elections in cities of the second, third and fourth classes organized and governed under the City Manager form of government and that the Board endorse said bill and request State Senator Strother Melton and State Representatives Charles Burnley and Fred Morgan to give it their full support to secure its enactment into law.
