HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Book 22, Page 311, November 27, 1951311 Proceedings of Board of Commissioners City of Paducah November 27, 1951 j' At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber at the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at A:30 P.M. on November 27, 1951, Mayor Johnston presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: 8ommissioners Hannin, Jacobs, Sims, Thomas and Mayor Johnston (5). Minutes of the previous meetings were adopted as read. ltiater line Commistioner Sims offered motion that the petition of J. E. Davis and wife, Braddie Rutter Street Davis, residing on Rutter Street for authority to connect a 3/4 inch water pipe line to the privately owned pipe line of Schneidman Road Water Line Number 2 for the purpose of providing water service for domestic purposes to the property of said petitioners, be received and filed and that the request in said petition be granted in accordance with the terms set forth therein. It is understood, however, in granting the privilege sought in said petition neither the City of Paducah nor the Commissioners of Water Works shall be obligated to buy said pipe line or any part thereof, and no such obligation shall be contained or be implied hereafter should the territory to be served by the water line to be laid under the li authority herein requested be taken into or made a part of the City of Paducah. It is further understood that the petitioners will subscribe for water service at the rates now or hereafter prescribed for water service to consumers outside the City i limits of Paducah and subject in all re spects to the rules and regulations of the City of Paducah or its Commissioners of Water Works which may now be in force pr hereinafter enacted. Nothing in the granting of this petition shall obligate the City of Paducah or its Commissioners of Water Works to guarantee pressure or service and said water service may be discontinued through said pipe line at any time when in the judgment of its Commissioners of Water Works the furnishing of water to the petitioners or their successors in ownership of the property owned may interfere in any wise with the adequate supply and distribution of water inside the corporate limits of the City of Paducah. Lee, Certified Audit 1951 letter Public Accountant, in which he offers to audit the accounts of the officers of the City ,f Paducah for the year ending December 31, 1951 for ;;2,000.00, be received and filed. ^Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas Commissioners Hannin, Jacobs, Sims, Thomas and Mayor Johnston (5). Rushing Add. ,�� Cormissicner Hannin offered motion that the Board of Commissioners approve the sale Grave to Jarres McDonald by the City of Paducah to Jame. McDonald of Grave No. 129 in Block 11o. 7 of the Rushing Addition to Gak Grove Cemetery, and that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed w gof conveyance to said cerant;ery grave. C. Habacker, doing business as Chastaine and Habacker, for plumbing Habacker Plumbing ,work in connection with public housing units located at the Rhodes -Broady Court, be Rhodes -Broady Court received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Hannin, jacobs, Sims, Thomas and Mayor Johnston (5). Cemetery ��G Commissioner Thomas offered motion that the letter of Chas. C. Rieke dated charges lettor I C.C.Rieke November 19, 1951, relative to an increase in certain charges made at Oak Grove Cemetery, ,,be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll., Yeas, Commissioners Hannin, Jacob , �Sims, Thomas and Mayor Johnston (5). Bid of H. Commissioner Thomas offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive and fil Warren Middleton 'the letter of H. Warren Middleton, dated November 27, 1951, in which he submits a bid of Lot or. No. 8th Street $300.00 for a Treasurer's deed to the Tagnon Lot on North Eighth Street. Adopted on call /of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Hannin, Jacobs, Sims, Thomas and Mayor Johnston (5). Exonerations Mayor Johnston offered motion that Exonerations No. 15419 thru 15500, inclusive, 151:19 thru J 15500 be received and filed, and that the amount of $908.40 be exonerated on tax bills as shown on said exonerations. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Hannin, Jacobs, jTreport ims, Thomas and Mayor Johnston (5). . Fire Dept. Mayor Johnston. offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive and file a changes in positions from the Fire Chief suggesting changes in the positions and number of the members & number of members ;I of the Fire Department and that the matter be referred to the City Manager for the request F kr necessary recommendations and action. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Hannin, Jacobs, Sims, Thomas and Mayor Johnston (5). Appoint 18 Commissioner Thomas offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE Traffic Supervisors YGPROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF EIGHTEEN TRAFFIC SUPERVISORS; PRESCRIBING THEIR DUTIES; GFIXING THEIR COMPENSATION AND TERM OF EMPLOYMENT; AND APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF $1,200 IFOR PAYMENT OF THE COMPENSATION OF SUCH SUPERVISORS", be adopted.
