HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Book 22, Page 305, November 13, 1951No. -- - -- j05---- --. _ Proceedings of Board of Commissioners ____—,City of Paducah November 13. 1,251 At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.N. on November 13, 1951, Mayor Johnston presided and upon call, of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners i Hannin, Sims and Mayor Johnston (3), Commissioners Jacobs and Thomas being absent (2). Minutes of the previous meeting were adopted as read. Water Line ✓ Commissioner Hannin offered motion that the petition of Eulis Garland Ramage and wife Estes Lane Beulah Mae Ramage, for authority to connect to a privately owned one and one-half inch water pipe line for the purpose of providing water service for domestic, purposes to one buildin. on the property of the petitioners, be received and filed and that the authority sought in said petition be granted in accordance with the terms set forth therein. It is understood, however, in granting the privilege sought in said petition neither the City of Paducah, nor the Commissioners of Water Works shall be obligated to buy said pipe line or any part thereof, and no such obligation shall be contained or be implied hereafter should the territory to be served by the water line to be laid under the authority herein requested be taken into or made a part of the City of Paducah. It is further understood that the petitioners will subscribe for water service at the rates now or hereafter prescribed for water service to consumers outside the City p limits of Paducah, or its Commissioners of Water Works which may be now in force or hereinafter enacted. Nothing in the granting of this petition shall obligate the City of Paducah or its Commissioners of Water Works to guarantee water pressure or service, and said water service may be discontinued through said pipe line at any time when in the judgment of th Commissioners of Water Works the furnishing of water to the petitioners or their sucfess- ors in ownership of the property owned may interfere in any wise with the adequate supply and distribution of water inside the corporate limits of the City of Paducah. Callender and wife, Oaks Road Evelyn Callender, residing on Oaks Road in McCracken County, outside the corporate limits of Paducah, Kentucky, for authority to lay and construct a water line for the purpose of providing water service to the building located on the property of petitioners be received and filed and that the request in said petition be granted in accordance with the terms set forth therein. Staley and wife, Estes Lane Willie Opal Staley for authority to connect to a privately owned one and one-half inch water pipe line for the purpose of providing water service for domestic purposes to one building on the property of the petitioners, be received and filed and that the authority sought in said petition be granted in accordance with the terms set forth therein. Policy & ✓ Commissioner Hannin offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive, file and Bond John Quinlan approve liability policy issued by the Coal Operators Casualty Company with respect to Brcom..e & Company work done by John Quinlan for a period of one year from November 5, 1951; also the bond Schmidt Street Change to 28th Jt. Request Fire Dept "Quest ✓ salary ircr ease of brocme & Company in the amount of ;;6,400 dated October 25, 1951. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Hannin, Sims and Mayor Johnston (3). Commissioner Hannin offered motion that the letter of Edgar C. Engelbrecht requesting that the name of Schmidt Street from its intersection with Miller Street to the Old Mayfield Road be changed to South 28th Street, and that street numbers be officially assigned alon,, said street, be received and filed. He further moved that the Corporation Counsel be directed to prepare for introduction at ',.he next meeting an ordinance in accordance with said request. Vannerson " T.O.Thomas Commissioner Sims offered motion that the letter of the City Manager dated November Occupational License 13, 1951, regarding the license of T. 0. Thomas be received and filed, along with the 1949-50-51 Settle copies of license statements from the City Treasurer for the years 1949, 1950 and 1951. He further moved that the compromise offer of the said T. 0. Thomas as expressed in the City !-tanager's letter be accepted and that the City Treasurer is hereby authorized to accept a license tax from T. 0. Thomas to operate as a retail merchant by paying the following; amounts for the years ihdicated: For the year 1949 a tax of $65.00 For the year 1950 a tax of 065.00 For the year 1951 a tax of $,115.00 All said amounts to be in full settlement of all taxes, interest and penalties for those years and the City Treasurer is authorized to issue said T. 0. Approve long Mayor Johnston offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive, approve and Range public, works �"orward to the proper officials of the Housing and Homes Finance Agency, the Federak program ��' Security Agency and the Public Health Service, the copy of the resolution adopted by the City Planning and Zoning Commission on November 9, 1951, together with the summary of the tentative long range public works program, as compiled from the applications of the variou ,departments and agencies of the City of Paducah, for Federal assistance under public laws Nos. 139 a nd 254, showing Estimated Request for Federal Aid, Public Improvement Bonds, Other Sources, and Total Cost of work for each department or agency. Sims and Mavor Johnston (3). junior College Mayor Johnston offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE OF THE Contract, Lease and �OF PADUCAH GRANTING AUTHORITY TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE PADUCAH JUNIOR COLLEGE TO Option EXECUTE A CERTAIN CONTRACT, LEASE AND OPTION WITH THE PADUCAH JUNIOR COLLEGE CORPORATION; SETTING FORTH THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SAID CONTRACT, LEASE AND OPTION AND PROMDING FOR PAYMENT OF RENTAL THEREON FROM THE SPECIAL JUNIOR COLLEGE TAX REVENUE OR OTHER SOURCES OF SCHOOL REVENUE", be adopted.
