HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Book 22, Page 209, April 18, 1951No --209 Proceedings of_Board_oL_Commissionena ___--_—._.City of Paducah April 18, 1951 At a Special Called Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber at the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on April 18, 1951, Mayor Johnston presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names; Commissioners Hannin, Jacobs, Thomas and Mayor Johnston (4). Commissioner Sims being absent. Notices ofV/! Mayor Johnston offered motion that the executed notices of the called meeting of the meeting Board of Commissioners at 7:30 P.M. on April 18, 1951, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Hannin, Jacobs, Thomas and Mayor Johnston (4). Water line ✓ Commissioner Hannin offered the following motion: McNeese Construction Company, Harrison St 25 to 28 owner of property located on Harrison Street from North 28th Street to west line of North 25th street, files with the Mayor and Board of Commissioners a petition represent- ing that it is the owner of the property referred to in said petition; and said McNeese Construction Company petitions the Mayor and Board of Commissioners for the extension o1j a 6" water main along Harrison Street from North 28th street to west line of North 25th Street, a total distance of approximately 1400 feet. The above referred to property consists of vacant lots and petitioner, McNeese Construction Company, has paid to the Paducah Water Works $336.00 plus the Utility Tax i of x10.08, being the minimum charge for 14 vacant lots for a period of two years from the completion of the laying of the above mentioned water main. It appears from the endorsement by the Board of Commissioners of the Paducah Water Works that said request and petition comply with the franchise provisions and require- i ments. i I THEREFORE MOVE, that the petition of McNeese Construction Company be received and' filed and that the Paducah Water Works, through its Board of Commissioners, be authorized to extend a 6" water main along Harrison Street from N 28th street to west line of North• 25th Street, a total distance of approximately 1400 feet, so as to provide water service to the above described property on Harrison Street. I further move that the adoption of this resolution and the granting of the request; contained in said petition be considered as an agreement on the part of the City of j I Paducah to pay the fire hydrant and water main rental, as provided in the franchise, on I I the pipe line and connection referred to in the petition, said rentals to begin when i said water main has been laid and the water provided for on said section of Harrison Street from North 28th street to west line of North 25th street, a total distance of i approximately 11.00 feet. It appears from the endorsement by the Board of Commissioners of the Paducah Water Woik: t)zat said request and petition complies with the franchise provisions and requirements. I THEREFORE MOVE that the petition of Charles Nelson and others named herein be re- ceived and filed and that the Paducah Water Works, through its Board of Commissioners, be authorized to lay said eight inch main along Madison Street from North 21st Street to North 24th street, a distance of approximately 1100 feet, so as to provide water service to the lots abutting Madison Street from North 21st street to North 24th street, a distance of'approximately 1100 feet. I further move that the adoption of this resolution and the granting of the request contained in said petition be considered as an agreement on the part of the City of Paduc h to pay the fire hydrant and water main rental, as provided in the franchise on the pipe line and connection referred to in the petition, said rentals to begin when said water main has been laid and water provided for on said Madison Street from North 21st Street to North 24th street. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fannin, Jacobs, Thomas and Mayor Johnston (4). Petition Commissioner Jacobs offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive and file oil Ridgewood the petition of E. A. Cave, Jr., and others in which it is requested that the Board of Commissioners take the necessary steps to being about the oiling or treatment of the surface of Ridgewood Avenue from Buckner Lane to Forest Circle. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fannin, Jacobs, Thomas and Mayor Johnston (4). Petition Commissioner Jacobs offered motion that the ooard of Commissioners receive and file resurface Clark St the petition of Fred McCandless and others, residents in the twenty-eight hundred block 2600 block of Clark Street in which it is requested that this street be resurfaced. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fannin, Jacobs, Thomas and Mayor Johnston (4). r Veterans j Cog'missioner Thomas offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive and file Village Report the financial report of Paducah Veterans Village and Rhodes -Broady Court. Meeks d/b/a Meeks Construction Company and the City of Paducah for a period of 30 days from April 16, 1951, also bond of the said Meeks Construction Company i the amount of 110 O dated April 16, 1.951.
