HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Book 20, Page 899, December 15, 1944Proceedings ofronrd of rommis51ancr City of Paducah December 15th, 1944 Mayor Appoint Committee Hcapital Recort Nov. 1944 At a Called Meeting of the board of Commissioners held in the Commissioner: Chamber at the City Ball, Iaducah, Kentucky, at 11:30 o'clock A.M. on Dec. 15, 1944, Mayor Seaton presided and upon call of the ;loll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Johnston, Pierce, Pulliam and Btayor Seaton (4). Commissioner Wagner being absent. ldeeting vias called for the purpose of appointing a Committee to formulate plans for the representation of the City of Paducah at the launching of a ship to be named in honor of the City of Paducah -'File S.S.Paducah Victory. r/ Commissioner Johnston offered motion that the board of Commissionors receive and file the letter of Robert 13. Horton, Director of i'ublic Relations of the United States Maritime Commission, with reference to the launching of a ship to be names in honor of the City of Paducah, the S.S. Paducah Victory, and that the Mayor be authorized to appoint a Committee to formulate plans for the representation of the City of Paducah on the date said ship is scheduled for launching. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yoas, Commissioners Johnston, Pierce, Pulliam and bayor Seaton (4). Mayor Seaton offered motion that the report of Riverside Hospital for the i I Appoint 1 Committee Ship Tamching i I month of November 1944, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Johnston, Pierce, Pulliam and 11ayor Seaton (4). Mayor Seaton made the following appointments: I hereby appoint Henry Ward, George 'a. Katterjohn, Jr., and Sam Sloan, together with one member of each Civic Organization of the City of Paducah to be appointed by them, to serve as a Committee in formulating plans for the ropresenbation of the City of Paducah when the vew victory ship, the S.S.Paducah Victory, is launched at Portland, Oregon on or about February 5th, 1945, the said Henry Yard to serve as Chairman of the Committee, and that said Committee be requested to submit to the Board of Coamissioners at its next regular meetInF, their recommendations concerning tho procedure which should be followed in order that the City of Paducah may be represented at the launching of said ship.
