HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Book 20, Page 854, August 15, 1944Proceedings of City of Paducah_ At a Regular ideating of the Board of Commissioners hold in the i Commissioners' Chamber at the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky at 8:00 P.M. on August 15thi 1944, Mayor Seaton presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Johnston, Pierce, Pulliam, 'Magner and Mayor Seaton (5). Minutes of the previous meeting were adopted as read. "Welcome �,• Commissioner Pulliam offered motion that Edwin J. Paxton, Sr., Tom Committee lar, Pierce E. Lackey, E. Bryant, Hiss Vary Dorian, Miss Josephine Fowler Post, Sam Sloan, Jodie Vaughn and Miss Grace Peery be appointed to serve with the Mayor, the members of the Board of Commissioners and the City Manager as a permanent Committee to welcome and entertain officials and celebration who visit the City of Paducah, and the members of said committee, with the Mayor as Chairman, to officially represent the City of Paducah at all ceremonial functions or other festivities which require such representation. Gas Pipe in Commissioner Johnston offered motion that the Board of Commissioners Gracs plot •,, Tenn. St. receive and filo the letter of R. V. Green, in which he requests permission to the Kentucky Utilities Company to install a 2 -inch gas pipe along the grass plot on Tennessee Street, from 6th Street to 1610 Tennessee Street, and that the request be granted upon condition that the sod be replaced and the street left in as good condition as it visa before excavation was made. Seaton, as Mayor of the City of Paducah, hereby j declare vacant the offices of all persons who are now serving as members of the Board of Adjustment of the City Planning and Zoning Commission, their term3 having here- ',tofore expired and no persons having been appointed in their place and stead, and I hereby appoint as members of said board W. Change name Commissioner Gagner offered motion that the name of all of that portion of of CSth St to "Joe 28th Street from Broadway to Park Avenue be changed from "North 28th Street" to"Joe Clifton Drive" Clifton Drive" in honor of Commander Joe Clifton of the United States Navy who has distinguished himself as an outstanding leader in the Pacific Theatre of Sar.
