HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Book 20, Page 700, May 11, 1943No---Lo—p-- Proceedings of-l'on —t of r .,.,.hint r,r,r,,.a City of Paducah May 11th, 1943 ____ — At a Regular Meeting of the board of Commissioners held in the Commissioners' Chamber at the City Nall, Paducah, Kentucky, on May 11th, 1942, 1 Cormissioner Dorian presided as Yayor Protem in the absence of Mayor Lackey, and i upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Johnaton, Pulliam, Wagner and Yayor Protein Dorian (4). Minutes of the previous meeting a were adopted as read. Dr. Polk✓Commi::sioner Johnston offered motion that the report of Dr. S. L. Polk, Re•ort for April 143 Colored City Physician for the month of April, 1943, be received. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Johnston, Pulliam, Wagner and Mayor Protem Dorian (4) National Commissioner Johnston offered motion that the letter of the city's CnatIrony/ Pipe Co' Attorney, Adrian H. Terrell, concerning the status of several suits filed against Terroll's letter 1 the City of Paducah by the National Cast Iron Pipe Company be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Johnston, Pulliam, Wagner and j Mayor Protem Dorian (4). Fred Morgan Cammmissionor Johnston offered motion that the offer of bred Morgan in lotson � Little >/i the sum of $21.00 for each of the lots on Little Avenue, one being Lot 20 in Block 6 Avenue and the other being Lot 2 in block 1, be received and filed, that his offer be accepted, and that an ordinance authorizing the sale and conveyance of the property at that price be prepared for introduction at the next meeting. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Johnston, Pulliam, Wagner and Mayor Protem Dorian (4). Rulia Commissioner Wagner offered motion that the Board of Commissioners Elliott s'r."errell receive and file the letter of Mr. Rulie Elliott, police officer, in which he requests defend assistance by the City of Paducah in the defense of a suit instituted against him by Romer Vinyard, together with the letter of Adrian H. Terrell, Corporation Counsel, AdviaiznC that he is willing to appear as Attorney for the said Rulie Elliott without Expense to either the city or to Elliott if the members of the board of Commissioners feel that said officer was acting within the scope of his employment when making the arrest complained of; and, 1: g It appearing that the said Hullo Elliott wan apparently acting within i i his legalrichta when making said arrest, that he wan performing the duty imposed 6 upon him as a police officer, and that the city is morally obligated to assist him In every any poaslble; I further move that the City of Paducah offer Bald officer the serviceal of ir.a aft^.rney In the ,infcnae of acid suit. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Johnstnn, Pulliam, Wagner and Mayor Protem Dorian (4). Brown's statem Mayor Protem Dorian offered motion that the statement filed by Elmer L. Brown and ent of charges against Mayor purporting to contain charges against Pierce E. Lackey, 1Zayor of the City of Paducah, Lackey La received, and that said statement be referred to the Corporation Counsel for study and for his opinion as to the legal sufficiency of the allegations contained therein.
