HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Book 20, Page 425, May 16, 1941No. 495 Proceedings of Board of Co"m!lssionar9 City of Paducah May 16, 1941 , At an adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commissioners Chamber at the City Half, Paducah, Kentucky, at 2:00 o'clock P.M. on the 16th day of May, 1941, Mayor Lackey presided and upon call of the roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Baker, Blackburn, Dorian, 4 Pulliam and Mayor Lackey (5). Alley on Madison St., Commissioner Pulliam offered the following motion: between 8th & 9th Sts !I move that a writing styled "Dedication of Land for use as Public Alley and Agreement", dedicated to City 'Signed by Charles B. AMttemore, and others, being all of the owners of the lots and parcels of land abutting upon Madison Street in the block between 8th Street and 9th Street in the City of .Paducah, Kentucky, be received and filed and spread upon the .'minutes and, it appearing from said writing that the persons whose signatures appear 'thereon have offered to dedicate for public purposea and as a public alloy a strip of land 13 feet 3 inches in width running from 8th Street to 9th Street through the center of the block between Harrison Street and Madison Street; and, I therefore move that the City of Paducah accept the offer of the aforesaid property owners to dedicate as a public alley the strip of ground referred to above, and that the City Engineer be directed to revise his plats by whow- Ing said strip of land as a public alley as set out in said agreement: "DEDICATION OF LAND FOR USE AS PUBLIC ALLEY AND AGREEMENT" "We, the undersigned, being the owners of all of the block of !,property bounded on the North by Harrison- Street, on the south by Madison Street, on i the East by Eighth Street and on the west by Ninth Street, hereby dedicate to the '!:City of Paducah, Kentucky, to be perpetually used as a public alley a strip of land 13 feet and 3 inches in width running from Eighth Street to Ninth Street through the center of the Bloch between Harrison Street and Madison Street, the alley hereby dedicated for public purposes embracing the following described area: lBoginninr, at a point on the 'West side of Eighth Street 160 feet north of the northwest corner of the intarsoction of Elghth and Madison Strcots, thence at right angles and in a weatwordly direction 3464 feet to Ninth Street; thence at right angles and in a northwardly direction 13 feet and 3 inches; thence at right ankles and in an East'wardly direction 346a feet to Eighth Street; thence at right angles 13 feet and 3 inches to the point of beginning.' Commissioner Baker offered motion that the payroll for the first lay^all - lot hal. May,1341 half of May, 1941 be allowed in the amount of $10,030.27, and the City Treasurer be authorized to pay same by check drawn on the General Fund. Commissioner Pulliam offered motion that an ordinance entitled: closing Hartvisonitoy-"A?1 ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE CLOSING OF A PUBLIC ALLEY RUNNING FROM HARRISON STREET Madison be- tween 8th & TO MADISON STREET IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BLOCK BETWEEN EIGHTH STREET Alm NINTH STREET IN 9th Streets THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND AUTHORIZING THE CORPORATION COUNSEL TO INSTITUTE IN THE MCCRACKEN CIRCUIT COURT A SUIT FOR THE PURPOSE OR HAVING SAID ALLEY LEGALLY CLOSED" be adopted. Adopted on call of the roll: Yeas; Commissioners Baker, Blackburn, / Dorian, Pulliam and Mayor Lackey (5). P.e3olution Commissioner Dorian offered the following motion: I move that to receive bids on radio a resolution entitled: "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO RECEIVE BIDS FOR equipment THE PURCHASE OF A RADIO TRANSMITTER AND RECEIVER, TOGETHER WITH ALL NECESSARY ACCESSOR- I3S FOR USE IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT; AND PRESCRIBING THE MANNER IN WHICH SUCH BIDS MALL BE RECEIVED", be adopted. Said motion was seconded by Commissioner Black- b,arn, but after discussion by the commissioners, Commissioner Blackburn announced withdrawl of hi:, second to said motion. Hughes nation from police Fora@ dated May 14th, 1941 and addressed to Y!. E. Bryant, Chief of Police, be received and filed, and that the Board of Commissioners accept the resignation of said Paul M. ,Iluchos from his position on the police Sarco, the same to be effective as of May 14th, 1941.
