HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Book 20, Page 404, April 1, 1941NO.— 404 ._ Proceedings of Board of Commissioners City of Paducah April 1, 1941 At a regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners hold in the Commissioners Chamber at the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. on the let day of April, 1941, Mayor Lackey presided and upon call of the roll the following .answered to their names: Commissioners Baker, Blackburn, Dorian, Pulliam and Mayor Lackey (5). Minutes of the previous meetings were adopted as read. r Stract Light - So. 9th Commissionor Baker offered motion that the attached petition at Intersection of Sanders Avenue signed b; Henry Williams and others, requesting that a street light be installed at the Intersection of South 9th Street and Sanders Avenue be received and filed, and that the petition be referred to the City Manager for his reommmendationa. Adopted on call of the roll: Yeas; Commissioners Baker, Blackburn, Dorian,Pulllam a -a Mayor Lackey (5). 11 Commissioner Baker offered motion that the payroll for the last Payroll- last half March,1941 half of March, 1941, be allowed in the amount of $9,758.26, and the City Manegor be authorized to pay same by check drawn on the General Fund. Adopted on call i of the roll: Yeas; Commissioners Baker, Blackburn, Dorian, Pulliam and Mayor Lackey (5) Commissioner Blackburn offered motion that the reports of Reports-Col City Phq. tc �, Riverside Hospital Dr. S. L. Polk, colored city physician, and the Riverside Hospital for the month of March, 1941, be received. Adopted on call of the roll: Yeas; Commissioners Baker, Blackburn, Dorian, Pulliam and Mayor Lackey (5). Commissioner Pulliam offered motion that the Option contained in Gravel Pit - contract entered into the Contract entered into on December 18, 1940, between Dr. William V. Eaton and the City of Paducah be exorcised, and that the City Treasurer be authorized to pay to Dr. Eaton the sum of $'800.00 for the purchase of the property on the Friendship Church II Road upon his delivery to her of a Deed of Conveyance to said property. 1 I Adopted on call of the roll: Yeas; Commissioners Baker, Blackburn, Dorian, Pulliam and Mayor Lackey (5). Buildings 1 Mnyor Lackey offered the following motion: I move that the letter of R.Ray condemnedWilkins addressed to James P. Smith, City Manager, dated April 1, 1941, be received and filed, and that the City of Paducah approve the action to be taken by the State Fire Marshall by causing certain buildings to be repair6d, torn down, demolished and all dangerous conditions remedied by whatever method may be required, said buildings being located at the following addresses: 1236 Madison Street (owner W. H. Cobb, Box 72, R. F. D. 5 Louisville 1302 South 10th Street, Annie McKnight 733 Goeble Ave., (L. J. & Emma Viall, Res. Box 741, Lansing, Ill. 1018 Park Avenue (Mrs. Myrtle Rinkliff, Res. 1308 Park) 1229 Jefferson (Mrs.Joa. I i ;later Mains Mayor Lackey offered the folldwing motion: The Commissioners of the Paducah authorized Water 1.orks having recommended the construction of water mains on certain streets and Intersections which are included in the WPA paving program for the ensuing year, said mains to be constructed for the approximate distances hereinafter stated on the following named streets: Wenty-first St. from A St to Old Mayfield Road - 568 ft. Tennessee Street from 8th to 9th St - 404 ft. Street Intersections at 11th & Jones Street - approximately 21 feet 7th & Tenn. on 7th Street - approximately a feet 7th & Adams St - East and West on Adams St. approximately 61 ft And it appearing that the annual rental charge to the City on said mains would be approximately 597.68, and that the City Manager has also approved the construction of said mains; I move that these recommendations be accepted and that the Commissioners of the Paducah 'Nater Works be authorized and empowered to proceed with the construction of said mains.
