HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Book 19, Page 609, September 14, 1936No. 609 Proceedings of._._ Hoard of Commissioners _ _ _ City of Paducah , Kentucky, September 1421936 _ At a regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners hold in the Commissioners' Chamber at the City Hall, Paducah, aentucky at 2 o'clock P.M. on the 14th day of September, 1936, Mayor Washburn presided and upon call of the roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Lockwood, Kelton, Pulliam and Mayor Washburn (4). Minutes of the previous meetings were adopted as read. Commissioner Lockwood offered the following motion: Application Beer License for license to sell at retail beer and light wines by Herman Pryor, 1001 So.lOth Herman Pryor granted %' Street, known as Pryor's Place, having been introduced on September 8, 1936, and consideration thereof deferred, I now move that p rmit or license for retailing beer and light wines to Herman Pryor, 1001 S.10th Street, be approved and license be issued upon payment of the amount of license fee. Adopted on call of the roll: Yeas; Commissioners Lockwood, Melton, Pulliam and Mayor Washburn (4). Motion not to adopt Commissioner Lockwood offered the following motion: The ordinance platooning required number of voters as petitioners having presented to the Board of police department Commissioners of the City of Paducah for adoption an ordinance entitled, "AN II ORDINANCE PLATOONING THE 11MBERSHIP OF THE PADUCAH POLICE DEPARTMENT SO AS TO CAUSE THE ;.1E:,1BLRS OF SUCH DEPARTMENT TO WORK IN EIGHT HOUR SHIFTS, SUCH SHIFTING AS TO TIME TO BE REGULATED BY ORDER OR RULE FROM THE OFFICE OF THE CITY *,.TANAGER OR FROM THE OFFICE OF THE CHIEF OF THE POLICE DEPARTUENT OR DEPARTISNT HEAD." And it being the desire of said petitioners that said ordinance be submitted to a referendum vote of the people of the City of Paducah at the next regular election, and it being impossible to submit said ordinance to such a vote unless the Board of Commissioners shall refuse to adopt it, — I now, for the'.purpose of affording an opportunity of submitting said ordinance to a vote of the people, nove that said ordinance be not adopted by the Board of Commissioners. Adopted on call of the roll: Yeas; Commissioners Lockwood, Melton, Pulliam and Uayor Washburn (4). Commissioner Meltod offered the following motion: The Parkrite Corkriteporal 'Anter Corporation paid Corporation of Houston Texas having P a ng co:npluted their agreement by removing all 75% of all money a of the parking meters, and having made all necessary repairs, I now move that the City ;Zarager be instructed to draw check in favor of the Parkrito Corporation for 75% of all moneys collected for the use of parking m.ters while in use. Adopted on call of the roll: Yeas Commissioners Lockwood, ;Jelton, Pulliam and Mayor Aashburn (4). Water_fayor W:shburn offered the following motion: Richard G. Terrell, Jr., C.A. Mair. ex- ttelton and R. J. Humphrey having petitioned the City for extension of water main tended on 10th along 10th street from Palm street West 500 feet, and it appearing from actual street measurements that it would require that said mains be extended 352 feet to give service to the three petitioners, and it appearing from said petition that said pet'.tioners have agreed in writing and bindthemselves to pay for water for the privilege of three minimum consumers for each three hundred of such water main for a period of two years, I now move that the Commissioners of Water Works be authorized, empowered and instructed to extend said water main on 10th street west from Palm street. The City of Paducah agrees and binds itself by the adoption of this motion to pay the hydrant rental provided in the Franchise of said Plater Works and to nay the water main rental as also provided in said franchise, said payment to commence when said water mains have been laid and the water has been turned into the same.
