At a call mooting of the Board of Cormissionera held in the Com-
missioners' Chamber in the City Hall Building in the City of Paducah, Kentucky
at 3 o'clock P.m., on the 9th day of August, 1928, Mayor Lackey presided and
upon call of the roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners
Bradshaw, Hannin, Nelson, Rutter and Mayor Lackey, (5);
Mayor Lackey stated reason for call, to-•-vitt For the purpose of
considering bids for the construction of combined sewers in Sewer Zone 4A, and
such other business as may come before the Board.
Commissioner Bradshaw offered the following motion- It appearing from
the bids submitted by the several'different biddera for the construction of
combined sorters in Sever Zone 4 A, that talcoa altogether the bid of E.J.Merklo,
Senor Zone 4 "A" doing business under the name of Merkle Contracting Company of Kansas City,
contract awarded'.
Mo., for the construction of said sever system by the use of reinforced concrete
sovtor pipe with cement or asphaltic joints, as provided in the specifications
,and as may be required by the engineer in charge, and vitrified clay sorter pipe
up to and including 24 inches in diameter, and all manholes, inlets and catch
basins to be constructed of brick, as provided in the specifications and to
perform all other duties and to furnish all other material and to do all other
work mentioned, referred to and described in the specifications and bid, and to
include all excavating, labor and material, and everything else necessary or
required by said speclfications.in the construction of said sewer system is,
in the judgment of the Board of Conmiasioners, the lowest and best bid and the
beat balanced bid, 2 now move that the bid of the said E.J.liorkle, doing business
under the name of Merkle Contracting Company, be accepted rnd tl:at he be awarded
the contract to construct said sewer system in Sewer ''one 4 A in the Cit;, of
Paducah, Kentucky, and that the Mayor be authorized to execute contract and bonds
within ten days from date hereof with the said contractor as provided by law and
the ordinance providing for said sowor system, and 1 further move that the
certified checks of all unsuccossful bidders, deposited vlth their bid, be
returned to thetd; Adopted on the call of the rollt Yoas; Conanissionors
