Council of the "ity of Pwlucah,
That this body accepts •.lith the greatest reluctance and regret the
resignation of Chief Jack 1,elson as the head of the Cityt•s Police '�ennrtment,
Resolution and that a vote of thanks be extended Mir. Nelson for his loyal and efficient aervie;

In the departure of ?r. Nelson from the police department, that
organization loses a leader wl:oso long experience and familiarity with the
detection ant punishment of criminals render him unusually qualified for such
labors. In the brief period that he has served as the executive head of the police
department, 1.!r. nelson has succeeded in building up the morals and efficiency of
the organization to a point of extraordinary perfection, and while it is not cr.lth-
out fluws, as no institution can be, it is capable of rendering morn satisfactory
service to tine City than at any ti.::e :vithin recent years.
Mr. Nelson is a man of exceptional capacity, judiTaent and
intelli,-ence, and in the handling, of the affairs of his department ho has demon-
ctrataa equalities of fairness, honor and ,justice. The able manner in zillich he has
lir, a;ed the City's police stork vill be appreciated no cess than the admirable
spirit of co-operation w.iich he has manifestdd at all ti^es, and the witirinr,
patience and dili.^enee ^,rith which he hus managed the many difficult problems that

In losin., Jack Nelson from its official family, Paducah loses
