HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002-5-6517287 ORDINANCE 2002-5-6517 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 14-38 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That Section 14-38 is hereby amended to read as follows: Sec. 14-38. Redemption of impounded dogs animals; fees; disposition of unclaimed dogs animals. (a) Any deg animal may be redeemed and released to its owner or keeper within seven days after being taken up and impounded, upon payment of the following fees: A redemption fee of $15.00 shall be paid for the first time a dog is redeemed, but for each subsequent redemption of a dog the redemption fee shall be $25.00. The sum of $4.00 shall be due and payable for each day or part of a day an dog animal is kept in the pound, and a "day" shall mean a calendar day beginning one second after midnight. The owner or keeper of any dog to be released must provide proof of rabies vaccination or voucher and city dog license. (b) Any deg animal not claimed, and whose release has not been procured within seven days after its seizure, shall be subject to be disposed of in such a manner as may be determined by the City Manager. SECTION 2. Pursuant to KRS 83A.060, the City Commission suspends the requirement of a second reading of this ordinance. As grounds therefor, the City Commission does hereby declare an emergency to exist as to the current status of animal abandonment and maintenance with the City.
