ORDINANCE NO. 2004-8-6859
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A
CONTRACT WITH MEEKS ELECTRICAL FOR INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC SIGNALS
AT THE INTERSECTION OF NEW HOLT ROAD AND VILLAGE SQUARE DRIVE
WHEREAS, pursuant to Sec. 2-645 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Paducah, Kentucky, the Engineering Department received sealed bids on July 21, 2004, for
installation of traffic signals at the intersection of New Holt Road and Village Square Drive; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Sec. 2-650(e) and 2-654(4) of the Code of Ordinances of
the City of Paducah, Kentucky, a written determination has been made by the City Manager that
the City does not have sufficient funds for the lowest responsive and responsible bidder and that
the best interest of the city will not permit delay of this project by resolicitation; and
WHEREAS, competitive negotiations were entered into with the only bidder and
a revised bid was attained.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. The City of Paducah hereby authorizes the Mayor to execute a
contract with Meeks Electrical in the amount of $42,333.00, for installation of traffic signals
located at the intersection of New Holt Road and Village Square Drive.
SECTION 2. This purchase shall be charged to ST0020 project account.
C"i SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be read on two separate days and will become
effective upon summary publication pursuant to KRS Chapter 424.
