HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-12-7053C" 9 ORDINANCE 2005-12-7053 AN ORDINANCE RECLASSIFYING ALL CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER BUILDING INSPECTOR POSITIONS WITHIN THE CITY OF PADUCAH AS NON -CIVIL SERVICE. WHEREAS, the City of Paducah's Code Enforcement Officer and Building Inspector positions are presently classified as civil service and are therefore governed by the provisions of KRS Chapter 90 et. seq; and WHEREAS, pursuant to said Chapter, the City of Paducah may exclude from the definition of civil service "employee", "persons in a class of employees designated by ordinance to be non -civil service positions"; and WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the Board of Commissioners that it would be economically beneficial to the City to reclassify all Code Enforcement Officer and Building Inspector positions within the City of Paducah employment as non -civil -service. NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah, as follows: SECTION 1. The classes of positions at the City of Paducah which traditionally perform code enforcement and building inspection duties in the City's inspection department, as specifically identified herein, are hereby designated as non -civil service. Those positions are as follows: Code Enforcement Officer Deputy Building Inspector Deputy Building Inspector II SECTION 2. Persons employed in the previously referenced Code Enforcement Officer and Building Inspector positions upon the effective date of this Ordinance shall continue to be covered by the provisions of KRS Chapter 90 for such time as he/she is employed in such position notwithstanding the reclassification of the position to non -civil service. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be read on two separate days and will become effective upon summary publication pursuant to KRS Chapter 424. ATTEST: ImW(ly" Tammara S.
