HomeMy WebLinkAbout2006-11-7195121 ORDINANCE NO. 2006-11-7195 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A GRANT AGREEMENT AND ALL DOCUMENTS RELATING THERETO WITH THE GOVERNOR'S HIGHWAY SAFETY PROGRAM, A DIVISION OF THE KENTUCKY STATE POLICE, FOR A GRANT AWARD WHEREAS, the City of Paducah applied for a Kentucky Governor's Highway Safety Program award adopted by Municipal Order No. 1214 on May 9, 2006, for salaries and benefits of peace officers working overtime hours and engaged in specific traffic enforcement activities; and WHEREAS, the Kentucky Governor's Highway Safety Program has approved the application and is now ready to award this grant. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. The Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute a Grant Agreement and all documents relating thereto with the Kentucky Governor's Highway Safety Program, a division of the Kentucky State Police, in the amount of $47,320.00 for salaries and benefits of peace officers working overtime hours and engaged in specific traffic enforcement activities. This program will reimburse 100% of approved expenses and does not require any / local cash or in-kind match. SECTION 2. In order to begin enforcement activities during the grant period which commenced October 1, 2006 and expend these funds by the end of the grant period, September 30, 2007, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall become effective immediately with one reading.
