AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING AN EXTENSION OF TIME GRANTED BY THE
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE FOR THE 2009 COPS HIRING RECOVERY PROGRAM GRANT
AWARD #2009RKWX0377
WHEREAS, the City approved Ordinance No. 2009-8-7606 authorizing the Mayor to
execute a Grant Agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing
Services in the amount of $607,194.00 for the hiring of three police officers for three years; and
WHEREAS, the City of Paducah has requested an extension of the grant due date; and
WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Justice has granted additional time to meet
programmatic requirements and complete the drawdown of funds, therefore, changing the end date to
December 31, 2013; and

WHEREAS, it is now necessary for the City to formally accept the extension of time for
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. The City of Paducah hereby accepts the extension of time granted by the
U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services for the 2009 COPS Hiring
Recovery Program Grant Award (#2009RKWX0377) for the hiring of three police officers for three
years. The new end date is December 31, 2013.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be read on two separate days and will become
effective upon summary publication pursuant to
