HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/19/91197 ROLL CALL At a Called Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chambers at City Hall at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 19, 1991, Mayor Montgomery presided, and upon call of the roll by the City Clerk, the following answered to their names: Commissioners Coleman Grumley, Hornsby, Taylor and Mayor Montgomery (5). NOTICES OF CALLED MEETING Commissioner Taylor offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that the executed copies of the Notice of Called Meeting to be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 19, 1991, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the roll, yeas, Commissioners Coleman Grumley, Hornsby, Taylor and Mayor Montgomery (5). SENIOR CITIZENS COMMITTEE REPORT TO CITY COMMISSION Charles Turok introduced the following members of the Senior Citizens Committee were in attendance: Mary Sledd, Jo Grisham, Nell Florence, Executive Director, Marvin Orgill, Cloyd Barriger, Henrietta Farr, Dale Melugin, Dottie Toy and Olin Bryant. Mr. Turok explained various Senior Citizen programs, including the following: meals, home care, transportation, referral information service, minor counseling, senior employment, RSVP, recreation, hairdressing service and the telephone reassurance program. Nell Florence explained the Senior Employee Program. Marvin Orgill explained the various funding programs from the federal government, state government and PADD .for the meal program, RSVP, and Escort No grant money is available for educational or recreational programs. Senior Citizens provide matching funds for some programs. Donations are received from the City , County, United Way, civic clubs and private citizens. Mr. Orgill described future goals of the Senior program; i.e., the improvement of the Senior Citizen building facilities. PUBLIC FORUM ON NOBLE PARK REDEVELOPMENT Nick Warren of Peck Flannery Gream & Warren, -tel Architects, presented a brief overview of the Noble Park Master �r Plan. City Manager Jim Penning introduced interim Parks Director Bruce Pope. There were nineteen individuals who addressed the Commission during this open forum. A list of these names in contained in the Minute File for this date. PETITION Petitions containing several thousand names and various letters in support of a Noble Park "Funland" were presented to the Commission.
