Commissioner Taylor was absent (1). Judge Hovekamp called the roll for the McCracken .' County Fiscal Court and the following answered to their names: Commissioners McNeil, Orazine and Judge Hovekamp were present (3). Commissioner Glenn Riley was absent (1). The Paducah -McCracken County Ambulance Committee was also present at this meeting. The following members were present: Chairman Pat Trevathan, Charles Simpson, Tyrone Sivils, Kim Davis and Gene Edwards (5). This was a workshop for the City -County to meet with the Ambulance Committee to discuss the present ambulance service. Chairman Trevathan, representing the Paducah - McCracken County Ambulance Committee, reported there are three particular areas that the ambulance board are wanting to review so as to be able to make a recommendation about the present ambulance service by the end of the year. These areas are: (1) Quarterly Reports - The Board needs financial and operational reports to better understand how the money the City and County Boards give to the ambulance service is being spent. There is a clause in the present contract that the ambulance service is to provide the Boards with these reports. Mr. Pennington, City Manager, suggested that a joint letter be sent to the ambulance service telling them to send these reports directly to the ambulance committee members. (2) Quality Assurance Reports - Run reports, advance life support reports, and basic life support reports be made available to the ambulance committee. (3) Gather Information from Other Ambulance Services - The ambulance committee feels that to find a short term as well as a long term solution to the costs of our ambulance service they need to be able to travel to other cities and see how their ambulatory services are operated. Commissioner McNeil feels that with the present ambulance service contract with Angels of Mercy, Inc., we as the City and County have no bargaining chip. After much discussion the City and County by consensus will send a joint letter to the Angels of Mercy, Inc., stating that the Paducah -McCracken County Ambulance Committee will act as their agent. The Board of Commissioners and the McCracken County Fiscal Court by consensus agreed to give the Paducah -McCracken County Ambulance Committee $1,000.00 from city and county funds to be used for travel expense funds. These funds are to be used by the committee members for gathering information from other cities as to how their ambulance service operates. Upon motion the meeting was adjourned.
