ROLL CALL
At a Called Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chambers at City
Hall at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 18, 1996, Mayor Albert Jones presided, and upon call of the roll
by the Asst. City Clerk, the following answered to their names: Commissioners Coleman,
Grumley, Renfro and Mayor Jones (4). Commissioner Hornsby was absent (1).
NOTICES OF CALLED MEETING
Commissioner Grumley offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Coleman, that the executed
copies of the Notice of Called Meeting to be held at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 18, 1996, be
received and filed. Adopted on call of the roll, yeas, Commissioners Coleman, Grumley, Renfro
y and Mayor Jones (4).
R&FBIDS
Commissioner Coleman offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Grumley, that the Board of
Commissioners receive and filed the following bids for the Department of Engineering:
East Mall Access Road
1. H & G Construction
2. Jim Smith Construction
3. Central Paving, Inc.
Adopted on call of the roll, yeas, Commissioners Coleman, Grumley, Renfro and Mayor Jones
(4).
CONTRACT WITH H & G CONSTRUCTION FOR EAST MALL ACCESS ROAD
Commissioner Renfro offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Coleman, that the Board of
Commissioners introduce and adopt an ordinance entitled, "AN ORDINANCE- ACCEPTING
THE BID OF H & G CONSTRUCIOTN COMPANY I THE AMOUNT OF $86,573.48 FOR
CONSTRUCTION OF THE EAST MALL ACCESS ROAD, AND AUTHORIZING THE
MAYUOR TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR SAME". The foregoing title summarizes the
contents of this ordinance.
MOTION TO AMEND ABOVE ORDINANCE
Commissioner Coleman offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Grumley that the following
section of the above ordinance be deleted and ordinance be read as an introduction:
"SECTION 4. In order to complete this project during the current construction season, an
emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordiannce shall become effective immediately with
one reading."

(4).
