ROLL CALL
At a Called Meeting of the Board of Commissioners, held in the
Commission Chambers at City Hall at 3:30 p.m., Thursday,
November 17, 1994, Mayor Montgomery presided, and upon call of
the roll by the City Clerk, the following answered to their
names: Commissioners Coleman, Grumley, Hornsby, Renfro and
Mayor Montgomery (5).
NOTICES OF CALLED MEETING
Commissioner Coleman offered motion, seconded by Commissioner
Grumley, that the executed copies of the Notice of Called
Meeting to be held at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, November 17, 1994,
be received and filed. Adopted on call of the roll, yeas,
Commissioners Coleman, Grumley, Hornsby, Renfro and Mayor
Montgomery (5).
WORKSHOP
The Board held a Workshop to discuss the proposed Waterfront
Plan.
The Commission raised several questions about the Plan,
including a notification which had been mailed to approximately
450 affected property owners. After lengthy discussion with
Rhonda Lee James, Director of Planning and Community
Development, the Commission delayed taking any action on this
project until language and definitions of applications on
wholesale and warehouse businesses can be established by
planning staff. Some property owners said the lack of
definitions would halt any attempts to expand their businesses
or sell their property.
Non -conforming uses such as warehouses and wholesale
distribution businesses were discussed, and the Board of
Commissioners requested that accurate definitions be spelled
out before they will consider an ordinance creating the
Waterfront Zones.
A joint workshop of the City Commission and Planning Commission
will be held and business owners will be notified before
language is adopted.
The previously scheduled December 5, 1994, Zoning Hearing has
been cancelled.
Upon motion the meeting adjourned.
