TAX RATE HEARING
The Board of Commissioners held a tax rate hearing on the levies
and rates of taxation on all property in the City of Paducah,
subject to taxation for municipal purposes and for school
purposes for the period from July 1, 1994, through June 30,
1995. Jonathan Perkins presented these figures. It was noted
that the City tax rate is lower than it has been for more than
ten years. The 1995 rate of 45.1 cents per $100 of assessed
valuation will drop from 46.6 cents. Assessed values increased
more than the 4% allowed by HB 44, and as a result, taxes were
rolled back. The city's portion does not include funds it
collects for Paducah Community College, Paducah Public Library
and Paducah Independent Schools. The rate for city schools and
the library were also rolled back this year, creating a drop in
the total tax rate from $1.139 to $1.091.
