HomeMy WebLinkAbout2010-12-7769ORDINANCE NO. 2010-12-7769 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO PAY FOR THE SOLE SOURCE PURCHASE OF 10 IN CAR VIDEO SYSTEMS ON BEHALF OF THE MCCRACKEN COUNTY FISCAL COURT TO BE USED BY THE MCCRACKEN COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR SAME WHEREAS, the City adopted Municipal Order No. 1449 authorizing the application for a 2009 Justice Assistance Grant through the U.S. Department of Justice, American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, in the amount of $149,548 for funding to be used by the Paducah Police Department and McCracken County Sheriff's Department, with the Police Department's allocation in the amount of $85,242 and the Sheriff's Department's allocation in the amount of $64,306; and WHEREAS, the City adopted Ordinance No. 2009-8-7600 approving the execution of an agreement to accept the grant through the U.S. Department of Justice, American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for funding to be used by the Police Department and Sheriff's Department; and WHEREAS, the Sheriff's Department has requested for the City to order and purchase on their behalf, ten (10) digital in -car video systems; and WHEREAS, due to the Sheriff's Department need for the new equipment to be compatible with the existing equipment, the City Manager has made a written determination that the purchase is sole source pursuant to Sec. 2-659 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah, Kentucky. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: . SECTION 1. That the City of Paducah hereby authorizes the Finance Director to malce payment to Martel Electronics in the amount of $29,950.00, for the purchase of ten (10) in -car video systems on behalf of the McCracken County Fiscal Court to be used by the County Sheriff's Department and authorizes the Mayor to execute a contract for same. SECTION 2. This expenditure will be paid with funds received from a 2009 Justice Accountability Gran (JAG) Program, American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 -Project Number P00047. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be read on two separate days and will become effective upon summary publication pursuant to KRS Chapter 424. A TEST: �rn�r►�.� S > > 3� Tammara S.
