AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO PAY FOR
FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM WORK ON THE EXECUTIVE INN
WHEREAS, the City of Paducah purchased the Executive Inn in December 2009;
and
WHEREAS, staff advised that due to the low temperatures during the upcoming
months, it was necessary to prevent the sprinkler system from freezing and breaking damaging
the interior fixtures that to the interior fixtures that the City plans to liquidate; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Sec. 2-659(1) of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Paducah, Kentucky, the City Manager made a written determination that an emergency did exist
because the International Fire Code requires that this building be equipped with a functional fire
suppression system and, due to the freezing temperatures, failure to provide the preventive work
would have resulted in a major expense; and
WHEREAS, the City selected Premier Fire Protection of Paducah due to their
long history of servicing and repairing the sprinkler system at the Executive Inn; and
WHEREAS, the first three invoices have been paid and totaled $18,244.43, and
upon receiving the fourth invoice of $9,741.18 and the fifth invoice of $12,299.84 makes the
total amount surpass the administrative amount of $20,000 authorized by Ch. 2-643,
"Responsibility for Procurement; Authority of City Manager," and
WHEREAS, it is necessary for the City to authorize the Finance Director make
payment to Premier Fire Protection.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City of Paducah hereby authorizes the Finance Director to
make payment to Premier Fire Protection, Inc., in the amount of $22,041.02, for weatherization
of the fire suppression system at the Executive Inn.
SECTION 2. This expenditure will be charged to the Executive Inn Purchase
account.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be read on two separate days and will become
effective upon summary publication pursuant to KRS Chapt
