AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE EFFECTIVE DATE ' OF ORDINANCE
/ NO. 77-8-1454
WHEREAS, the Board of ~Commissioners of the City of Paducah,
Kentucky, previously enacted Ordinance No. 77-8-1454, which set forth certain
procedures and qualifications governing promotions in the Paducah Fire Depart-
ment, and
WHEREAS, ' Section 9`of Ordinance No. 77-8=1454 provided that
said Ordinance was to be effective from arid after the date of its adoption., and
`WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah,
Kentucky, is now of the opinion that it is appropriate and in the best interest
of the City that the effective date of Ordinance No. 77-8-1454 be amended to
provide a reasonable period of preparation time by "members of the Paducah
Fire Department who' might wish to be considered for promotion under the
procedures` of -Ordinance No . ' 77-8-1454, and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners is further of the opinion
that ` during the 'interim period between the adoption of this Ordinance and
the effective date of Section 9 of Ordinance No. 77-8=1454, as amended by
Section I herein, that all promotions in the-Paducah Fire Department should be
made in accordance with the promotion- procedure that was in effect prior to
the ' adoption of Ordinance' No. 77=8-1454.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT' ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY,
SECTION 1. That Section 9 of Ordinance No. 77-8-1454 be, and
the same is hereby amended, to read as follows:
"SECTION 9. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after the 1st day of October, 1977."
SECTION 2. That all promotions made in the Paducah Fire Department
from the date of the adoption of this-,ordinance until October 1, 1977, shall be made
in accordance with the promotion procedures that were in effect prior to the
adoption of Ordinance No. 77-8-1454.
